Dear friends,
Do you realise that every 12 seconds a child in this world is stuck down by the horror that is Emo music.
Can any of us sleep soundly at night knowing that this needless waste of humanity is happening on our very doorstep?
All it takes to battle this plague that is sweeping our once glorious nation is a little vigilance.
If you know of anyone who is thinking of dabbling in this twisted form of soft rock music, please show them the righteous path.
Help them through it. Because one day it could be your own child at risk.
Think on.
First of all, you're not funny.
Second of all, 'Emo' is not a noun, so refrain from using it in such a fashion. And third, and post importantly of all, what you think is this 'Emo' music, is probably shitty pop punk. from the US west coast.
THINK ON BRUTHA
Post? I mean most. HAHAHAH
Yes I am.
Of course Emo is a noun. Do you know what a noun is?
Everybody knows what emo is and it's shit.
It must be stopped. If you think you like it, then I will see to it that you are made HISTORY.
quiet!
I can't hear my Funeral For a Friend records...
Emo is not a noun...don't be a fucktard.
Emo SHOULD not be used in the sense you are using it. Billy Werner is probably turning in his grave (if he were dead, that is).
Go back to school.
Fucktard?!
Go back to school?!
What the shit?!
You're still at school, son. Don't come the raw prawn with me.
The english language is a wonderful versatile thing. It is constantly evolving. A bit like you.
Jesus, I said Jesus. I'm good!
*University, actuall dear.
I could go on and on here, you see, but there's no point trying when you have no idea what you're going on about.
Sorry :(
*Autually.
I've just got back from a 12 hour shift. Forgive me.
FOR FUCK SAKE.
You really don't have to bother.
I like you,
you've got spunk.
But you can't spell worth shit.
I just keep hitting the wrong keys :(
hmm.
I was confused by this. The dictionary lists 'classical music' as a noun, so why shouldn't emo music be classified the same way?
Because it's not a...oh...er,,,word?
well...
I know. I'm just commenting on what my dictionary says, THAT IS ALL.
the original post didn't make my sides split either...
if you rewrite the post's title, following on from my last post about classical music, it would say: 'make classical history'. which doesn't make much sense.
Erm...I'm sorry, i don't quite understand what you're saying.
Just because the dictionary says classical music is a noun, every other 'genre' of music should be as well?
no...
I was saying that the dictionary is wrong to classify classical music as a 'noun'.
My point was that if you split the term 'classical music' in the same way that 'emo music' is split in the original poster's subject: it makes no sense. it would read 'make classical history' instead of 'make emo history. so I was agreeing with you...
Ah, i understand.
Although, my arguement was more aimed at the fact that what bands such as Hoover, Heroin, Rites Of Spring, who started the so called 'Emotive Hardcore' genre would probably be a tad pissed at the matter of people like our dear thread starter, giving shitty pop punk bands the same label.
If you see my point.
fair enough
they might not be too happy.
...
Sorry to piss on the parade - but those bands are all a treak of piss as well. And Emo is a noun - especially in the context of this discussion - where it would indeed be as appropriate to say 'Make Emo History' as it would be to say 'Make Classical History'.
I don't think
that there is an answer to this. i think it is interchangeable as either a noun or an adjective, and i don't really care. as long as language is understood, it is serving its purpose.
web-arguments = rubbish, so I'm picking up my stuff and GETTING OUT OF HERE!
so...
I shouldn't let my kids listen to Dashboard then ?
Correct.
You should let them listen to The City of Caterpillar, Ampere, Saetia, Antioch Arrow and Wolves instead.
Yes
Genres of music are nouns. Never let your kids listen to emo.
OK
will continue to feed them with slowcore then...
Seriously.
Are you trying to be stupid?
Emo is not a noun.
It doesn't even stand for anything anymore.
Are you stupid?
It is a noun. You just used it as one.
I seriously fucking give up with you.
It is not in the fucking dictionary, therefore it is not a fucking noun.
For fucks sake.
Seriously.
Get a grip.
Lightsaber
probably isn't in the dictionary. Although I haven't checked.
You mean one of two things:
1) Words that are not in the dictionary are just 'words' which cannot be categorised into parts of speech.
2) Because 'Emo' is not in the dictionary, it is not a word.
Both of these arguments are completely stupid.
If you can, perhaps, give me some reasons why they are stupid...
...then perhaps i can look past you giving MCR a rating, and take you seriously.
(And i obviously don't mean one, so reasons for number two will do fine, thank you)
And, well, don't go calling me Sherlock Holmes or anything like that, but, 'Emo' is not in the Oxford English dictionary, and until it is, i'll treat it as otherwise. 'Emo' does, however stand for Emotive hardcore, a supposed genre of music. 'Emotive' and 'hardcore', to my knowledge, are still in the Oxford English dictionary, making them words.
but surely, 'emo' is a noun now.
the evolution of language is a WONDERFUL thing.
strangest thread
ever. i wanted to come on here and spout off about how hitable the lead singer of P!ATD is, but instead I get some sub-standard banter about the classification of words.
yes, we all kno the current rash of shit like panic isn't emo. but that doesn't stop proper emo/emotive hardcore/backpack rock making me want to eat glass.
carry on.
someone
was playing them at the party i was at last night.
i said to them:
'well i don't like them, but they are catchy......like syphilis.'
i think i offended about 10 people. oh well.
