Bossbucks! Springsteen banned in US coffee dens
Posted: 06 May '05, 11:48
Another only in America story... The Boss' new record hasn't gone down so well with Starbucks.
He's an American icon, but Bruce Springsteen's new chart-topping album 'Devils & Dust' (our review) has been banned in corporate coffee chain Starbucks in the US, over concerns about its adult content. They've decided they have better records to sell, as the record doesn't come with a Warning label.
This is all mainly because of his song 'Reno' which describes somewhat explicitly an encounter with a prostitute... Is this rude?
She slipped me out of her mouth
"You're ready," she said
She took off her bra and panties
Wet her fingers, slipped it inside her
And crawled over me on the bed
Somewhat surprising, the coffee chain was responsible for a quarter of all sales of the late Ray Charles final album, Genius Loves Company, which sold three million copies across the US.
All this means is that fans of the Boss, and any kind of music really, should drink coffee in nice local coffee shops and buy their records from record emporiums. Pretty simple really.
DiScuss: Which records would you ban? Ain't Americans dang Confuckingservative? What do you make of Devils & Dust?

this really doesn't surprise me in the slightest- the boss doesn't need some coffee chain to be successful anyway. -

Thought he was dead?! bloody hell. He's only like mid-50's. Bloody good album, but to be honest i wouldnt wanna listen to it while relaxin havin a nice mochalatte or the like (not that i do that often). It's dark as fuck and fairly desolate and depressing in the main, Reno probably isn't the darkest song either, despite talkin about humpin' a hooker up the bum.-
Re: Bossbucks! Springsteen banned in US coffee dens
Records to ban. I'd start with Dido. Then I'd stop idiots from covering Ray Charles. Then I'd shave Yanni's hair. Er, whoops getting carried away. *sniff* In short I'd run Starbucks into the ground. In a matter of weeks people would realize they're paying $4 for a cup of coffee.
Americans confuckingservative. *shrugs*
Devils & Dust. Only heard one track and it was quite good. Seems like just yesterday Courtney Cox was jumping up on stage with the guy and I thought he was finished. What do I know? I keep thinking people like the idea of buying records from record stores. *shrugs*
