ATP presents Don't Look Back - Mudhoney, Cat Power, Stooges, B&S...

ATP Concerts will launch a season of concerts in August called Don't Look Back. The shows will feature prominent acts playing particular albums from their past, a retrospective of one of their finest works if you will.Concerts will run through 'til October and take place at a variety of venues across London. More information can be found at ATP's website.
Currently confirmed are:
Tuesday 30th August
The Stooges performing Fun House
(Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton, Steve Mackay and Mike Watt)
Hammersmith Apollo

Because London and the surrounding regions house the highest concentration of people, and can therefore attract the biggest audience - for the population concentration reason, having them in London also makes these events accessible to the maximum number of people - more than holding them anywhere else in the country.
I recognise that it's a total bummer if you don't live in/near London, but there is logic involved.-

probably because 1/5th of the people in the country can get home after gigs from london too. i'm sure someone knows a real fact here.
you try going anywhere else in the country and getting back to london after 8pm, it's strangely impossible. unless you get like a 3am bus from Leeds and stuff.-

you've discovered that too! Yes the entire public transport network is set-up so that people can get in to London and out again for a day but it never seems to occur to them that Londoners might also want to escape sometimes. Had to sell my ticket to Nick Cave in Bristol as I couldn't get back and couldn't afford a b&b :(
And yes all the good things do only happen in London, either deal with it or move here (like the rest of us had to)

I really would advise you to avoid that at all costs. I love SY & O'Rourke, even the improv type stuff, but I saw this same line-up (Gordon, O'Rourke, Mori, Olive) at the RFH a couple of years back and it was bloody terrible. It was mainly Kim Gordon's thing, and she was embarrassingly bad. The gig was sold out, but by the end more than half the audience had walked out.

I wish it was the James Williamson era Stooges. I like the first two albums a lot but it's "all about" Raw Power. And Ron Asheton refuses to play Raw Power songs I think. Mainly because he can't... -

I'm assuming they're playing other stuff as well as just the named album? I'll be a bit pissed off if I pay nearly 30 quid to see the Stooges and they only play for a bit over half an hour and don't play "I Wanna Be Your Dog".
