January 29 - hey, that's next year! - will see the release of The Abattoir Blues Tour, a double-disc DVD set featuring live songs from said tour, as performed of course by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds.

The Boatman's Call - best Nick Cave album? Tell me I'm wrong!

The DVD features a number of songs from Mr Cave's latest (also double-disc) long-player, Abattoir Blues/The Lyre Of Orpheus, a selection of older songs and a good few special feature-y things. Footage is taken from two gigs - one in Brixton (November 2004) and t'other in Hammersmith (June 2003 circa Nocturama).

Among the features are videos to every single from the band's past two albums and also a film following the filming of the 'Bring It On' promo.

Full live tracklisting:

'Hiding All Away'
'Messiah Ward'
'Easy Money'
'Supernaturally'
'The Lyre of Orpheus'
'Babe, You Turn Me On'
'Nature Boy'
'Get Ready for Love'
'Carry Me'
'There She Goes, My Beautiful World'
'God is in The House'

'The Ship Song'
'Stagger Lee'
'Wonderful Life'
'Nobody’s Baby Now'
'Bring It On'
'Sad Waters'
'Watching Alice'
'Christina the Astonishing'
'Wild World'

Included videos are: 'Bring It On', 'Babe, I’m On Fire', 'Nature Boy', 'Breathless', 'Get Ready For Love'.

I was at that Brixton gig

It were incredible.

you're wrong

it's "let love in"

wrd

bra

you're wrong too

Henry's Dream

you're wrong...

i can't decide what's a better Nick Cave album, but it's definitely NOT Boatman's Call. The Last double album and Murder Ballads are far superior.

you're wrong

it's maybe his third or fourth best - Abbatoir Blues is his best (and that's really saying something! the man has a fabulous back catalog, but at least 2/3 of Abbatoir is transcendent, and it's by far the best album that 2004 gave us)

Then I'd say his second best is Let Love In (which was a nearly flawless collection of songs, definitely his near-masterpiece before Abbatoir)...

So basically, I think that The Boatman's Call is interchangeable with The Good Son (not a fan favorite, but highly underrated and one of his best, I think) as his third and fourth best albums.

His most overrated album, though: Murder Ballads

It probably IS Let Love In

but Abbatoir Blues was his best since then and the tour was incredible.

Bring it on!

it's a wonderful life.

nah

'no more shall we part' is excellent

Not that I'm boasting, but ...

I was at that Brixton gig AND that Hammersmith gig. WOOHOO!

And "The Boatman's Call" is the best. Closely followed by "Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus", "No More Shall We Part", "From Her to Eternity", "Let Love In", and "Mutiny/The Bad Seed EP" by the Birthday Party.

And "Henry's Dream".

And "Tender Prey".

And "Murder Ballads".

God he's good ...

"Nocturama" sucks ass though.

And I forgot ...

... "The Good Son", which was my favourite for years. Shame on me.

yeah...

nocturama really blew. just a weird blip on an otherwise flawless track record

I was at both gigs as well

BUT I got seriously bored at the Brixton show. the Hammersmith one was ok, but it was seated which was a bit weird

well, if i'm going to have to expand it to list...

1. let love in
2. henry's dream
3. no more shall we part
4. the good son
5. boatman's call

god, he's good
