Show me the Money: Moneytree on tour now...

moneytree live in bangor

Remember when Reuben were good? They really were. Honest. Anyway, former DiScover stars Moneytree (click here for interview) take said goodness and fuse it with wickkid-skilly Kinsella band guitar figures and Stevie Wonder's keys/party-tude.

Relevently to this article, they've just embarked upon a tour, with similarly south coast-based rock tsunamis Caesura. Signed to Lockjaw Records, they resemble DiS' own Jeniferever in their tidal beauty.

Anyhoo, they hit these venues at these dates:

April
3 London The Lark, Islington
4 Winchester Railway Inn
5 Birmingham Sunflower Lounge
7 Brighton The Ocean Rooms
8 Oxford Purple Turtle
10 Stoke Glebe
11 Southampton Unit 22
12 Bournemouth Gander on the Green
13 Cardiff Tafod

Speaking of Reuben

I like 'Freddy Krueger'.

the singer from moneytree is in the video for freddy kreuger

wearing the same yellow tshirt as he is in that picture up there.

he didnt have dreadlocks then tho.

...

Saw them last night. Was pretty good, save for two things:

1) Myriad technical issues that disrupted the flow of the performance.

2) The keyboardist. Surely the most redundent member of a band since Bez. When he COULD be heard above the rest of the band, the playing resembled light jazz noodling that appeared to have little relation to anything the rest of the band were playing. Really spoilt my buzz, which is a shame, because as I said before - the rest were quite good.

actually...

look dude, what I'd love you to do, if you can bring yourself to, is go to their myspace and listen to maybe just the first 30 seconds of their song Cyclical Hystory... then if you can honestly tell me that the keys are redundant and ruin the sound then we need some serious talks about what music actually is.

What makes moneytree great is what a pastiche of gentres they span. Without the keys they'd be a very good, very tight rock band, but add those crazy jazz solos and that's what makes the Moeytree sound uniquie.

Quite frankly i think you just don't know what you're talking about.

...

I listened to their Myspace before I went to the gig. Again when I got back. And a third time at some point after that. I stand by my opinion.

We're done here.

spoken

like a man that knows absolutely nothing about jazz.

...

Oh, that reminds me, I've still got to book my Stanley Clarke tickets for the end of the months. Cheers, mate.

well i hope you

learn something, he's fantastic player.

this tour...

opened my eyes to one of my current favourite bands

i was listening to caesura for months before this tour was even booked and you should all go and check out theyre myspace and buy some material. genuine and lovely people

and moneytree arent as much jazz as they are darn right captivating!
