"The courtyard at Somerset House has shown itself to be one of the best venues in the country for live music of all persuasions. It seems to bring out the best in every artist that plays there. This year’s promises to be very special."
One or two aside.
Surround sound though.
fuck. May have to go.
Sounds good
But as for the rest...
Whatever happened to the days of Calexico and Yo La Tengo and all the other great summer shows there.
It's just Ben & Jerry's now, innit?
B&J
Am I being stupid, but whadya mean "it's just Ben & Jerry's now".
Can someone please buy mike a ticket for mika?
I want to see the reaction we get the next morning.
should...
hot chip be allowed to charge, £22.50 a ticket? bit greedy by the promoter. Its quite near the pricy end of the scale for most of those bands/artists aswell. seeings that it will be more like £28 after all of the cunt-fees
"should Hot Chip be allowed to charge £22.50 a ticket?"
What a strange question.
Mogwai cunting clashing with
cunting latitude
Should Mika be allowed to charge anything?
but are they really worth
£2.50 less than Kasabian, just to put it into context?
Somerset House is always such a nice night out but it is more like £50 by the time you've had a few drinks or double that if you don't "go dutch" with your other half or take a friend for their birthday or whatever...
Sigur Ros there made so many people cry, it was awesome.
yeah thats what i was meaning...
it looks a right expensive place and fair dues if its a "big band" charging that much but i dont think hot chip are worth that asking price.
Why dont they make that an all day festival-esque event?
hmmmm...
Both The Roots and Hot Chip look very tempting. Very tempting indeed...
they both clash with truck though
so its mogwai or nothing.
I ain't going Truck
So that's not an issue for meeeeeee
The Roots are a real effort live...
whoever told them that wanky jamming was a good idea needs to be shot...
Guillemots it is!
Whee!
Guillemots
Yeah this would be an ace place to see Guillemots!
Can't understand why they're more expensive though, none of the bands are exactly huge, but surely speaking in terms of 'normal' gigs it would surely cost more to see Mogwai than Guillemots normally. That also applies to lots of the others....
yeah...
you would expect a number of them to be supporting the others, does that mean the support acts are going to be poor?
My guillemots ticket for Rock City
was about £15, so I don't mind paying a lot more.
Fyfe likes me. He expects me to be there.
It's totally
worth paying that to see them... but it seems to be one of the steepest price increases from the 'norm' - surely Mogwai normally charge around £20 anyway?
tempted
but tis a lot for mogwai :(
i am going to that
Mogwai in surround sound, outside in a courtyard, pissed on a hot (hopefully) summers day. 22 and half knickers isn't bad really...
Got
my mogwai ticket...hoooraaaay
how?
I've been on all the ticket sites and Somerset House and nothing shows up.

Thank you

Overheads
The ticket prices reflect the overheads a temporary music venue like Somerset House has to pay. Somerset House is only a music venue about 10 days a year.
Normal music venues of a similair capacity (3,000)that are music venues 365 days a year are much more cost effective to run. If for example Shepherd's Bush Empire are charging £18.50 a ticket before booking fees (or £35 in the case of Devo) etc the extra few quid you are paying basically means these gigs can economically go ahead.
Venues like Somerset House have to cover the huge costs of hiring a temporary stage, extra temp workers ie. bar staff and security not to mention all the other hired hands and equipment. Hence higher ticket prices...
