why even bother to post that? (although admitedly the same could be said for this message). he clearly isn't. why waste all of our time? instead of making such boring ill-informed comments you could be discovering wonderful mind-expanding new music that will change your life forever. not oasis.
that nasal whine
diary style lyrics
his self importance
his geeky emo kid fans
he got willy mason a record deal
stupid song/album titles
his self consciousness
the way he looks
how like other dumb american rock bands like nofx and good charlotte he is trying to be all political now as well as emo - yeah I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 too.
ahh when his fans grow up they will realise they wasted their youth studying his gcse style lyrics in their bedroom when they should of been out doing drugs and talking to girls.
no one ever said he wasn't a bit pretentious, or his voice quite annoying (although not really any more). but that doesn't mean his music isn't good. Nofx have always been political (i believe fat mike organises the rock against bush cds). and it's always been trendy to join a cause (eg. band aid). it's too easy and boring to stereotype his fans. i'm wide awake its morning is a quite slendedly brilliant album and i highly recommend it (as did dis), particularly if you didn't like his earlier work.
bright eyes should write a book, because his snivelling, whinging tones should in no way be mistaken for music. if he wants to convey his sad, pathetic, little message he should write it down. this would mean if you want to expose yourself to this drivel, you wouldn't involve innocent bystanders.
i quite like his voice, but i can understand the criticisms. it isn't the most exciting music i've ever heard, there was a definite is that it feeling when i heard the album after all the hype on here...
Did anyone see him at glastonbury last year, absolutely fantastic and a brilliant way to start my festival. Plus it was sunny (one of the few rare times)!
He's not that bad actually. I've got his two recent LPs and they're ok. His voice for me is a little grating and annoying after a while and that's what gets me sometimes, i have to be in the right mood to listen to him. I personally preffered Willy Mason's LP to both the recent Bright Eyes releases.
Don’t try and put it down to some NME hype he’s got this far without them. when most other bands just repeat the same verse chorus verse singing whatever just to have something to sing he should be commended for at least trying to cover as many themes as he does and trying to be inventive with language. sometimes it doesn’t work but a lot of the time it does. I don’t think I have ever heard lyrics as good as a scale a mirror and those indifferent clocks and Im sure years down the line conor haters will regret missing out on something genuinely important because of their suspicion of hype your loss.
Which will explain why most of the pro-Conor comments have come from twenty and thirty-somethings who I am sure have no gripe with their paerents. I may well listen to it because I hate you though
There seems to be a general perception of him which doesn’t match up with what his records are like. Ok some of his songs are self pitying (fewer than you’d think) he critics himself for this. he has no ‘I hate my parents’ songs listen to entry way song or a celebration upon completion (grandparents but still). I wish people would would give examples to back up their arguments.
i like bright eyes, and i'm not going to sit here and type obscenities because some people don't agree. I have to agree with gay, people should at least give an example, besides "i hate geeky emo people" etc.
