Six outta ten in the magazine that made you? Shit off...

But not just yet, because you've a UK tour to get over and done with. Hopefully some of these here shows will be half full, or less, and that'll be that: another band over, a new (and hopefully) better one just begun...

October
8 Newcastle Academy
9 Glasgow Barrowlands
10 Aberdeen Music Hall
11 Middlesbrough Town Hall
12 Liverpool University
14 Sheffield Octagon
15 Manchester Academy
16 Preston 53 Degrees
18 Loughborough University
20 Leeds University
21 Keele University
22 Norwich UEA
24 Nottingham Rock City
25 Birmingham Academy
26 London Brixton Academy
28 Cardiff University
30 Brighton Dome
31 Exeter University

November
1 Bristol Anson Rooms
2 Oxford Academy
3 Southampton Guildhall

Seriously, I'm not missing anything, am I? They really are very bad, right? Yes? Good. If you disagree, the band's debut album Love It When I Feel Like This is out now. The band's MySpace is here.

Really surprised

they're doing Rock City, as their show at Nottingham Trent Uni a few weeks back was apparently nowhere near a sell out, and Rock City holds a good 5-600 more people.

Imagine the twats in there

Seriously. Nottingham has the worse indie booze boys ever.

Leeds, surely

???

never been to many gigs in Leeds

Everytime I have been to an indie gig in Nottingham, someone pours beer on me!!!

You must be choosing

the wrong gigs!

thats just because

you've come to our nights, which are inhabited by skinhead oasis fans with the shakes.

that is true...

& my boyfriend is there and he uses my head as a pint holder.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW

Harsh!!

and surely not true!

Fucking disgraceful

They're album has JUST this minute come out n they already playing such large venues, I bloody hope they are empty, if they are full I hope everyone there is there to bottle them.

I love that photo

I've never seen a band captured so completely in one image.

"'Avin' it"

Who is 'avin' it?: NME
Where are they avin' it?: The Twang's collective arsehole.

Grumble

This means that they'll probably still be around at the end of the year. How disappointing. Are DiS going to do a review of the album? I need a laugh.

Definitely

Please review it just for the sheer comedy value.

Anyway, how old is that man in the photo? I'd say 38 was generous.

yeah

i hate this band a lot.

so, so, so bad.

I only saw what they looked like

the other day & I was shocked of how old they actually were.

Mickey Loosefit shoudl review this

Mike - I know his email.

I imagine they were young

Lager lads, you know.

Also, I imagined they would make good music if they were that little bit older.

They were fucking shite when I saw them.

The record company

wouldn't send DiS a review copy!

The phrase "absolute fucking dogshit" doesn't nearly do how awful they are justice, but it's really satisfying to say out loud. Go on. You'll feel better for it.

The Twang

Played in my town (Derry) a few weeks ago, around 40 people turned up to see them. After a VERY disappointing gig, we were walking out of the venue, when the singer was standing at the door on his own, probably fishing for compliments.

My friend said to him "You're the most exciting thing to come out of Birmingham since UB40" , and the singer said "cheers".

It wasn't supposed to be a compliment.

haha!

That's tragic.

Thigs is Mike

no offence here mate, if they are that bad, why are you guys giving them press (for the record I have managed to not hear a single song as yet).

It's a good point...

...but many people do come here to read the news, and many people who come here do like the Twang. They'll be interested in the dates.

yep

you got that right Kayleia.

.

It's scarily surprising how much everybody in Birmingham actually Loves UB40. Thankfully being a mere resident of Brum I don't share in their excitement.

So..

I’m wondering in my mind how may people will go and watch their headline slot at Glastonbury.
Hopefully none!

loads sadly.

people are sheep. Can you imagine a whole field-load of bank clerks with hoodies singing 'and all I needed was a hug' and getting all emotional together...yeeesh

,,,

can you imagine how bad Glastonbury will be full stop?!?!?!?!!

good lord.

wrong

It's a bit harsh to say they're *completely* awful

The guitars are quite nice.
It's just that absolute twat of a singer that completely ruins it.

Argh that pic makes me

hate them all the more! What a knob shiner.

and the artwork

for the album, is utter shite. Rant over.

I agree

I 'lolled' when I first saw it, and every other time I've seen it since.

It's reminiscent of the album covers Pop Idol rejects have, quickly knocked up by people at the record company to try and appeal to the market. An 'urban fox' in a parka. It'll sell sell sell!

Knob Shiner?

HAHAHAA, great image.

Was he maybe involved in this?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4253849.stm

OUCH!

Fucking Hell! I thought that link was going to be to the "Sound of 2007" story.

I saw about half of their set at Middlesbrough Music Live

Half an hour of the most awful, awful sounds I ever heard.

twanging !!

i saw them support james and thought they were ace .. ok so they act cocky but they did put on a good show, both either way and wide awake are good songs .. maybe they have been overhyped in a lot of ways which makes people make comments like on here

OK

I really don't mind em. Some of the songs are awful (Cloudy Room springs to mind), but i like Either Way and Two Lovers. Nothing wrong with those tunes at all....nice guitars on them.

I actually think

Cloudy Room - or at least the guitar in the opening couple of minutes - is possibly their only saving grace.

THE TWANG ARE...

fucking shit

I agree

They're terrible

Quick question...

... why is it that bands shite-gobbling bands get more comments on here than the ones that inspire and excite. Its seems that we all prefer to take a good swipe at the "knobshiners" than bigging up the good stuff. Wierd.

...

just for the record The Twang make me want to smother my first born. And not in a good way.

I call them

The Twank.

not big, not clever but then again niether are they

fat chav dads

with tons of kids and fat wives. thats what they are

Above post

Brilliant.

complete and utter rotting gash

and im trying to be complimentary

who the fuck are the wang

where they did they come from and why are they still alive?

i wonder

how many kids he has??? if hes 38 he was probably be able to have kids since he was 13 maybe so if he had one baby every year that would be 25, lets just hope they dont follow in his footsteps.....cos he is a monkey banjo

They headlined the first night...

...at the new Opera House in Bournemouth after it was closed for refubishments. The Proclaimers played shortly afterwards. Not a good start whatsoever.

actually just listened to them

for the first time.

fucking atrocious.

but i do like them writing *SOLD OUT* next to two gigs on their calender... t in the park and glasto... shows they can't sell out anywhere on their own for shit!

roffle.

in reply to the above

That will be why every show on the last tour sold out then won't we? Just because you don't like them doesn't mean noone else does. I would have thought that the Twangs album being number three in the charts would have hinted that some people do actually like them.

well enjoy them while they're here...

cos all being well they'll have crawled back under the rock they came from by this time next year

I didnt say I wanted to enjoy them

Just get bored of the self justification that goes on here! The fact is they are selling out shows and people love them. You dont like them, so what? They are hardly there to appeal to the average DIS or NME reader are they? Its normal blokes who drive vans and fix your house when its fucked taht they appeal to. Just live with it and move on.

well

i had no idea the other tour sold out, but now i am enlightened and feel much better for it.

glad to hear it

^^^^^^^

ssshhhh

they shouldn't be, here, there or anywhere at all. they really fucking suck.
they just get plugged by bloody jo whiley and co all day, so as you say people who 'drive vans and fix houses' buy their dogshit record.

^^^^^^^^^^

So you have a problem with those people?

can i listen to it

if i fix vans and drive houses?

no

but generally people who are driving in a van on their way to fix peoples houses might be listening to radio 1.

maybe

people at raduo one like it as well?? it is a possibility?

Except

the whole of the other tour didn't sell out, as I stated at the start of this post re: the previous Nottingham date.

you are wrong

Nottingham sold out.

No it didn't.

There may have been numerous "complimentary" tickets dished out, but I can assure you it didn't sell out, and I have this on pretty good authority.

Trust me

It did...and I can prove it to you and make you look stupid.

alright Twang members dad,

do. Even if you're right, you'll be oh-so wrong.

Then "prove it"

, as I'll take greater pleasure in proving otherwise.

Dom - you are a prick

I have the ticket figures for the whole tour - the only show that didnt sell out was newcastle (and that was close). The saleable capacity of the venue in Nottingham was 1000 people and the show sold 1000 tickets in advance of the show. This is what is called a sell out! Idiot!
As you live in Nottingham you could go and check with the promoters of the show if you dont believe me and they will confirm the information. Or check with the bands booking agent. He could also confirm.
But instead you choose to beleive your mates or some other nonsense. Please check your facts before you make yourself look stupid again.

to be honest, you ae the one who looks stupid

as you're the one who is such a mega fan of the twang, you know which dates they sold out.

Stupid is a mild word, tragic is more like it.

or maybe its just my job to know?

and I am not a fan of the Twang -I don't like their music. But they do sell tickets and have an audience (Which is the point of this thread).

You are stupid to think I know because I am a fan -stop making judgements you bigots!
I know because my job gives me access to the figures!

Why are you defending them then?

There's no point - they're terrible

oh and

we don't care either

you do

and you keep replying so you must.

I'm waiting for some

facts ilm, something which you seem incapable of giving me.

The Twang

I would rather lick piss off nettles than listen to the twang.

the twang

have had two top 10 singles i think, maybe two top 15's, i can't quite remember...is it really such a suprise they're playing these venues?? you lot may not like them but they're a big band now and are gonna get bigger...have you heard two lovers???....and will not dissapear in the next year like most of you seem to think, if you continue to insist that then you are wrong...you are all bell ends

i think it's stranger that arcade fire are playing manc men than the twang are playing brixton

fuck off cunts

sorry

and a top 3 album to boot

x

pricks

Wow

You're pretty rude. In response to your comments, yes it is a surprise that they're playing these size venues, because they've only been around for a few months and they've only just released their album. Oh, and they're shit. But that's just my opinion I suppose.

They will disappear, because they are a fad and fads always fizzle out. The only bands that survive fads are the ones with the talent, and I have seen nothing in The Twang that isn't being done 100 times better by others already. If I continue to insist this I am a bellend? Sounds like the petulant ramblings of someone who knows they're wrong to me.

And as for Arcade Fire playing the big stadiums, I don't think anyone who reads these forums likes that idea, but I suppose it means that their audience has grown. They have become bigger because of their musical prowess, which is far more than I can say for that whingey Brit-pop nonsense.

.

I fail to see the relevance in pointing out chart posistions to prove how good a band supposedly are. A high slot in the charts is no reward to the fans its a reward to the band and the fans may only use it to counter the arguements that said band are shit. In this case the Twang. I couldnt care less if they got to number 3 in the charts you have a bunch of guys who take themselves too seriously. These bands do get to these posistions in the chart but a music lover who has been through the depths of genres will instantly identify that the Twang are blodey terrible.

Put it this way go to their gig and talk to members of the audience. Guarenteed the majority all left school at the age of 16. Its easy to sell out venues when you appeal to working class. So they can fuck off if they think this tour will add to their commercial merit to better massage their egos. Especially when they are probably robbing their working class fan base the price of an overpriced ticket.

that is priceless

nice one pal

Its easy to sell out venues when you appeal to working class.

is my fav bit
