Possibly we’re a couple of days late on this ‘breaking news’, but a perusal of the interweb tells us that Led Zeppelin are planning to reunite for a one-off show in tribute to the late and legendary Ahmet Ertegun, their former record label boss.
Which of course is fine and well. Perhaps a tad more troubling is the rife speculation that they will then continue their collusion across the world. Yes, a world tour as such.
Given the news yesterday that The Verve have reunited ‘for the love of music’ (seriously, don’t get us started), we’re pretty distressed already. This however, is a little more stressful, given that The Verve are still under the age of 55, and only have two decent albums to destroy, whereas Led Zeppelin have an era-defining back catalogue that stretches to hours of ‘tunes’.

is a pretty good drummer, I'm sure he could fill in perfectly well. It's not like they can choose anyone else anyway. I'll start saving for a ticket now...

corsano is nice
but is more of a tinkering about on the cymbals and rimshots kind of guy, I suspect for a led zeppelin reunion they might favour more of a 'demolish the kick and toms with a bit of gong' type player.

Sadly, the greatest rock band in history, Led Zeppelin, ceased to exist the day that the greatest drummer in rock history, John Bonham, died. That was on 9-25-1980. The unique magical chemistry that made Zeppelin so special was possible only with those four brilliant musicians, without John Bonham, there is truly no Led Zeppelin. The interest in this fantastic band is still so intense that millions will understandably ignore the fact that John Bonham was utterly irreplaceable. I'd like to see the three surviving members with a great drummer, but don't call it Led Zeppelin, that sets the bar impossibly high.

LOL! personally - i think he was a very well produced drummer rather than a *tight as a gnats chuff* drummer - the rock world is littered with much better drummers than mr bonham... let alone all the other types of drummers available...
but - interesting point about not calling it Led Zep. Maybe Arsenal should rename themselves not Henry has left? how about the fact that The Sensational Alex Harvey Band still play on even though Alex popped his clogs about a similar time (IIRC) - its not like Led Zep were called John Bonham and the Led Zeppelins.... :oD

I saw
Robert Plant at Fiddlers in Brizzle on Friday...the guy still has an awesome voice. His solo stuff is OK, but you're stood there itching for him to let rip with a Zep classic....luckily he sang 5 or 6 of them.
If he's back with Plant & JPJ then I'm in...I'm sure they'll choose a decent drummer.
