Truck Off... to Oxford Brookes!

by Sean Adams

Following a day of ridiculously heavy rain Truck was postponed this afternoon. However, stood knee-deep in flood water, the spark was still alive in Steventon. Sodden mobiles frantically got bashed and DiS has just been emailed the following news... See you there!

The show must go on. Amazingly, given the short notice, through hell and high water, an alternative Truck event will go ahead at Brookes University, Headington, Oxford.

This event will serve as a benefit / fundraiser in order for the re-scheduled event in September to be as legendary as this weekend would have been, and to enable us to contribute to the causes that the Truck Festival supports. Also because some of the brilliant acts have made arrangements and have already travelled (from NYC in Garth & Maud Hudson’s case, and from LA in Brian Jonestown Massacre’s case), it’d be a tragedy for them to return home without playing some music…

TODAY!
TRUCK WEEKENDER BENEFIT CONCERT
AT OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY SU, HEADINGTON HILL, OXFORD

Truck Festival runs for cover and sets up camp in the hospitable surroundings of Oxford Brookes University Student Union, who have kindly offered to host a spectacular alternative Truck event this weekend!

From 4pm till 2am on Saturday and 4pm till midnight on Sunday,
‘Truck On’ features some of the best bands on the postponed festival bill, and we hope to bring some of the spirit and magic of Truck to the party for all those disappointed people out there!

Due to the severe flooding of the village of Steventon, Oxfordshire, and the festival site being mostly underwater with no access or facilities, Truck Festival was unfortunately forced to be postponed.

Truck Festival tickets are still valid for the rescheduled Truck Festival in Steventon on Sat 22nd & Sunday 23rd of September. However, GOOD NEWS! At very short notice the Truck team has worked incredibly hard to bring you this special alternative weekend event.

We are asking for a ticket price on each day, as ‘Truck On’ will serve as a benefit / fundraiser concert in order for the re-scheduled event in September to be as legendary as this weekend would have been, and to enable us to contribute to the causes that the Truck Festival supports.

Headlining Saturday night (21st July) is the legendary Brian Jonestown Massacre, who were delighted to be asked to perform tonight, as having come all the way from LA, they just want to play! With a host of fantastic acts performing on 2 stages (we are building one stage as we speak…) plus DJs after the bands till 2am, the day looks set to rock!

Garth & Maud Hudson will be headlining on Sunday evening (22nd July) along with a performance by Truck Label favourites Goldrush.

Despite extensive flooding in Steventon village including the flooding of the Truck organisers the Bennet family house, moral remains high and with a real sense of camaraderie in the face of adversity,
the show, as they say, must go on!

Please join us in this celebration, and support your Truck Festival!

This is all actually

pretty heartwarming stuff. I love it when a plan comes together, goes to shit, and then comes together very quickly again. And all because people love it so much. Ace.
