Gruff Rhys project bears fruit

Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys has assembled an odd cast of collaborators for his new project Neon Neon.

The singer has teamed up with solo artist and producer Boom Bip to make a record, Stainless Style, which will feature contributions from Fab Moretti of The Strokes, Har Mar Superstar, Yo Majesty, Spank Rock and The Magic Numbers.

As you might expect from the above, the project marks a bit of a departure both from the chintzy production of the last Super Furries' record and the whimsical folk of Rhys' solo effort Candylion.

Stainless Style is due for release in February and will be preceded by a single, 'Raquel', on November 26.

deadly

haha

indeed, super furry animals sucked mannnn

you suck.

mannnn

blimey

Rhys is more prolific at the moment than he ever has been in his career.

Undoubtedly this will be excellent too.

I reckon

this could be ace.

well

A couple of years ago Gruff guested on a Boom Bip album. The track was called Do's and Don't's. It's awesome.

I'm expecting great things from this.

i prefer

the Nina Nastasia collaboration on that album.

Personally, I was a little bit

disappointed with Rhys' previous collaboration with Boom Bip Do's and Don't's. It lacked substance and just felt like a demo.

It was a laugh

and not meant to be taken seriously perhaps! The funny thing about this project is it unites SFA and The Strokes.

Stranger things have not happened at sea...
