The thought of those pricks being saddled with unmanageable debt as a result of signing the world's least favourable record deal of all time and then having to work double shifts in a Peterborough slaughterhouse for the next 40 years (blood pouring down their Topman fucking polo shirts) was really quite nice.
we all know it should have been Revenue
Body: but i love the fact that it was channel4 that actually decided to put on a music show where they find REAL artists rather than that leona bloody lewis xfactor shite.
a contract like that could destroy a career if its just one album they are signed up for. lots of exposure and more money than they would ever make without that deal.
they'll only be financially ruined if they aren't successful, but i'm sure they'll do fine. After all, Radio 1 playlisting is certainly on the cards (the Whiley connection) and i reckon most of their target audience see this as quite a reputable contest, just another arm of the T4 yoof music behemoth.
If they can get a "hit" single then most of the profile raising job is done. And if they've got that they're sorted
i don't totally understand, surely the more money the better, also, wouldn't bands signed to independent labels not make as much money as them? or do they just have part time jobs too?
i don't know about this contract, but an advance is a loan from the record company, so the more money you get, the more you have to pay back before you can make any cash, basically.
i'm trying to work out how many swear words
you can make using the thread title.
Haha, that's what I was thinking
3?
I avoid this program at all costs so I can't contribute further to this discussion.
Who won?
I wish Revenue had won though.

I am guessing
you don't know many bands signed to major labels?
60 grand advance
split 5 ways for a 2 single and 1 album deal. not the best deal ever?
i think
bile. best sums it up.

Revenue are going to do well anyway :)
she really is as stupid as she sounded there
Hooray!
Revenue are about as "real" as Leon Thingy.
who did win?
Envy and Other Sins
To be fair, they're not as dreadful as I expected them to be.
Revenue
are an aural attrocity.
Surely
they're also a contender for worst band name ever?
I think
'Bad Robots' won that
Envy and Other Sins
have been around for a long time now and have some good songs.
Good luck to them.
Envy arnt the best band in the world
But at least they can actually write a fucking song unlike the Northern Uproar tribute band.
Just a shame the contract is a potential carrer killer
dont see how

i don't know why people are going on and on about the contract

saw them supporting mew a few years back!
they weren't too bad - already had a shit shakesperian/renaissance 'theme' going on lyrically and most unfortunately visually too.
saw about two minutes of this show and had to switch off.
Manciniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

"is it wrong?"
fuck off.
whats wrong with the contract?
i don't totally understand, surely the more money the better, also, wouldn't bands signed to independent labels not make as much money as them? or do they just have part time jobs too?
well
