Songs that make your hairs stand on end

I just had a nap whilst listening to Sonic Youth's 'Washing Machine'. IMO a very under-rated SY album.

But The Diamond Sea is absolutely gorgeous. Its like a trip during my half awake/sleep stance. I could feel the goosebumps on me just before the drone and feedback kicked in at 7 minutes or so into it.

Yeah, this thread probably has been discussed numerous times on here, but who cares, discuss...

i've said it before & i'll say it again:

how to disappear completely by radiohead.

the ultimate song to make your hairs stand on end.

song for you by gram parsons

does it for me every time

^

amazing

Totally agree,

Thats easily one of my favourite radiohead tracks. Most songs im thinking of seem to be Radiohead tracks - Knives Out, or Reckoner on the new album is particuarly beautiful.

Also Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley.

now that you mention jeff buckley,

lover you should've come over.

'she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever' makes me go crazy every time i hear it.

:D

Dulcinea - Isis

When it gets to that point at the end when the drums kick it and it reaches its climax...I also climax. Ha.

BONNIE PRINCE BILLY

the way

everytime.

BPB is one of those rare artists...

... who has more than 1 real 'stand on ender'. For me 'Grand Dark Feeling of Emptiness' and 'Black'. If you listen to either of those without your hair standing on end then you are dead inside. Or bald.

Nearly

any live rendition of Knights of Cydonia. Just so bloody powerful.

Happy Violentine-Miss Kittin

I'm sure I'll think of more later.

"you are here" by nathan fake

it makes me heart do funny things.

uploaded for your pleasure

may be a bit of a cliche now

but first time i heard smells like teen spirit...wow everything was standing on end, not just hairs

Stop Your Bleeding

by Snowden does it for me.

Maps,

Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Twenty Years, Placebo
I feel like going home, Yo La Tengo
Come & Find Me, Josh Ritter
Tranatlanticism, Death Cab For Cutie

I love that song

"I don't know Johnny Rotten, but I'll bet he puts as much blood and sweat into what he does as Sigmund Freud did."

Aye, it's fantastic.

It's more the wierdly cyclical guitars that do it for me.

One ive been listening to a lot lately

Le Long De La Riviere Tendre - Sebastien Tellier

bjork

all is full of love

this ^

when the vocals kick in

Bjork

Desired Constellation

Pagan Poetry as well

Almost a perfect song, the "I love him" part gives me shivers.

i painted that song

for my art AS level in phthalo blue and silver leaf, which are the colours i always saw it as being. the lyrics are just wonderful.

the diamond sea i mean

other sy ones are great too-

winner's blues, shadow of a doubt, halloween and i love you golden blue are my favourite shivery ones.

your right

blue and silver are always the colours that come to mind when i think of that song.

Thats a pretty cool song to choose your AS level art project on tho.

The Replacements - Unsatisfied

also Amor Veneris by Arab Strap and Infinite Spark by Pavement, when that godlike guitar solo kicks in. Bliss.

the ending of

Ice Hockey Hair by Super Furry Animals.

Radiohead for me.

They're the best at it I mean. Let Down & Motion Picture Soundtrack are the standouts. I think I've listened to them too often though :(

There's a few Elliott Smith moments that really do it for me as well.

Only in Dreams - Weezer

From the second half of the build up through to when the drums pound and everything comes back in and all after.

Goose bumps, back of the neck, the full works. That song is simply majestic.

everything means nothing to me-elliott smith

the bit at the end when the drums kick in.amazing. let down "one day i am gonna grow wingsssss"

back to buckley

everybody here wants you by jeff buckley is awesome, good call on elliot smith though too...

the outro scream in Grace

just kills me every time.

makes me want to laugh, cry, smash the room up. Never to be bettered. The most complete musician ever IMO.

^this too^

100% this

Station Approach by Elbow.

When coming home on the train when you've been away for ages.

Harm of Will - Bjork

or I See A Darkness - BPB

yes yes yes

also by elbow, Newborn, Scattered Black and Whites and Great Expectations.

Permanent Smile - Smog

always does good things to my head. It's got great imagery in the lyrics, and simple pretty music...

Nude by Radiohead

off the new album

but yeah Lover You Should've Come Over is another one :)

radioohead

pyramii song
karma police
