i haven't noticed a ryan adams thread in a while. i'm just listening to gold & i always forget until it's actually on how great it is.

i don't know why but la cienega just smiled gets me every time:

'and i hold you close in the back of my mind
and raise my glass cos either way i'm dead
neither of you really helps me to sleep anymore
one breaks my body and the other breaks my soul'

Good lyrics. I prefer:

Everbody knows the way I'm walkin' knows the way I'm talkin, knows the way I feel about you,
Its all a bunch of shit, there's nothing to do around here.
Its totally fuuuuuuuuucked.
I'm totally fuuuuuuuuuucked.

And if I could have my way,
We'd take some drugs,
And we'd, SMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLE x 3

But not tonight, my dear,
Wish you were here.

Tonight

off him and the Cardinals is ace, as is Cold Roses off that album. The whole thing's great actually.

i found a couple

of bootlegs in the depths of my hard drive a few days ago and stuck them on my mp3 player. they're all unreleased material from between Gold and Love Is Hell/Rock N Roll, and it's all fucking great. how some of it never came out i can't understand.

ANYWAY, gold has great songs but they're buried by the production really. he did "la cienega" at the borderline show back in late 06 and it was pretty much incredible.

i really do love ryan adams more than just about anything.

the La Cienega version on

The Suicide Handbook's even better. Like trip says, the production on Gold buries it a bit.
