Oh God, they are so good. Why had I never listened to them properly before?! WOW. 'And The Glass Handed Kites'. YEAH. 'Frengers'. HOTDAMN. Phew. Sweating so hard. So good.
To 'and the glass handed kites'...ive had it for a good while now, and it was highly recommended to me, but ive just never sat down and given it a proper listen. I'm guessing it really is that good, judging from the praise it gets on here, huh?
As a Dane, I really have to say that they're one of our best bands.
Along with names such as Figurines, Under Byen, Mimas, Slaraffenland and Efterklang.
Efterklang and Slaraffenland I love, but Under Byen drove me a bit mad when seeing them live supporting Efterklang.
^ I've only got Frengers, and quite liked it, although I think maybe I've subconsciously treated them as a band that I would like and not love. Not sure why. Maybe one day I'll get their last album, although the cover kept putting me off by looking a bit pap.
a triumph for man is excellent. it's better than frengers and that's saying something.
half the world is watching is a bit weak - although worth getting to hear the older versions of the frenger songs.
is probably my least favourite of the four, but still a great album. I love A Triumph For Men. The re-released versions of the first two albums come with extra discs full of demos etc.
are criminally overlooked - Frengers will be one of those albums that will be re-discovered cult record people will look back on in 15-20 years time.. there's not a weak track on the album.
wait, that would mean it was three years ago, but whatever!
They are fucking awesome, the name put me off for ages, but thanks to the persistance of my sister, they are now one of my favourite bands EVERRRRRRRRR!
:D!
It makes me feel funny and I often think that it's perfect. The original songs on A Triumph For Man are beautiful, too.
I still don't care much for And The Glass Handed Kites, though. I like The Zookeeper's Boy but thought most of the other songs flagged a bit in comparison to what they'd done beforehand. The artwork is horrid aswell.
But ohh, Frengers. It's one of those albums I think so highly of that I don't dare listen to it often. That bit in the full-length version of Comforting Sounds where everything just unfolds has me in absolute tatters. Every time!
after a friend copied me Frengers I simply couldn't get into it at all. That dude's squeaky voice wore me down rather quickly, very nearly prompting me to yell at the stereo, "For God's sake! Just sing like a man!"
However. However, however. I thought Joanna Newsom sounded like a puppy trapped in a tumble dryer at first, yet with a little perseverance I grew to adore her. I am, therefore, wondering if whatshisface likewise has the sort of voice you need to devote the time to adjust to. Did any of you massive fans experience initial difficulties with it?
yup
^This!
I guess I should probably listen

It's as good
as they are ever likely to get.
i've had 'And The Glass Handed Kites'
for like six months and i've never been able to get in to it at all. are they really all that?
Oui
As a Dane, I really have to say that they're one of our best bands.

I feel like that a lot
with ..And The Glass Handed Kites, but I liked their previous album Frengers a lot more. Maybe you'd have better luck with that record.
doesnt anyone listen
to their earlier stuff?!
as much as i love frengers and glass handed kites their previous albums are SO much more fun.
^ i wasn't aware til about 6 months ago they had earlier stuff
and have not yet bought owt
A Triumph For Men is amazing
but it can be hard to get your hands on, as is Half The World is Watching Me, but they were both re-released recently.
^

You speak in facts
I was doing the usual
palm of hand across forehead oh a DiSer once again ejaculating over something that's probably actually a bit cerebral and gashers
but ooh these are quite good actually aren't they.
I might buy it now that my debit card's been activated (what a horrible wait!)
NOT TILL I'VE BOUGHT MONROE TRANSFER
not the whole band - just their album
I honestly think Mew
are criminally overlooked - Frengers will be one of those albums that will be re-discovered cult record people will look back on in 15-20 years time.. there's not a weak track on the album.
This is what I was like two years ago in the summer of 2005
wait, that would mean it was three years ago, but whatever!
They are fucking awesome, the name put me off for ages, but thanks to the persistance of my sister, they are now one of my favourite bands EVERRRRRRRRR!
:D!
I got my copy of Frengers through the post today
can't wait to listen to it in the car ont he way to Brighton! :D
Oh God Mew

Phwoar

See, despite the daft title I loved Am I Wry? No. Yet...
