One of the most intense bands, if not the most intense band on the planet. Jane Doe is fucking perfect. You Fail Me is brilliant as well. Favorites?

Jane Doe is my favourite album easily

no other album matches it in terms of sheer power for me. Concubine has to be the single heaviest thing I've heard, the end of Thaw is ridiculous, the title track is of course epic, Phoenix In Flames rarely gets a mention too.

I love all of their stuff basically. Have you heard the Poacher Diaries? That stuff matches Jane Doe on the ferocity scale. When Forever and Petitioning are better than the latest two for me I think, but even those are pretty faultless.

So many great songs: My Unsaid Everything, This Is Mine, The Saddest Day, Dead, Downpour, Towing Jehova. Heartless, Conduit.

I'll stop gushing now.

Are they playing

over here soon or am I getting confused?

I hope so. I've missed them too many times.

And I want to see the sadest day live.

When I saw them here

July last year, they said they definitely weren't going to play that, and people kept shouting out for it. They just said something like "Dude, we're not a fuckin' iPod".

i've only heard Jane Doe and No Heroes

both of which are excellent. i ned to hear some more...

You started in the wrong way. Should have built up to those records

Because that's all the Converge you need.

Not really though.

"that's all the Converge you need." remember. Now go buy some Breather Resist and Drowningman.

i recently

sold Jane Doe - i didn't "get" it

awesome band

This band are incredible.

Concubine is so good. I think my favourite off that album is Homewrecker, its a proper pumper.

Jane Doe is, in my eyes, a perfect record. You Fail Me isn't far behind. Hope Street. Now that's a song.

Big love out to 'No Heroes'

I know it's not as good as 'Jane Doe' but... frankly, what is? 'No Heroes' is superb - first five tracks all under 2 minutes and each boiling over with fury and TUNEage.

They are a great band,

but the singer had a bit of a Messiah complex when I saw them live, probably in part to all the hardcore kids worshipping him for all these years and it's finally gone to his head.

What is seeing them live like?

I mean I know it'll be 'awesome' and 'incredible' but... I wear glasses you know?

There's more

crowd surfing and stage-diving than you will ever witness at any gig in your entire life. And the singer holds his arms out in a crucifix pose alot and bask in the fan-adulation.

The audience is also like a post-hardcore fashion parade.

They're absolutely unmissable

Never before have I witnessed something so brutal and intense. Jake Bannon took the stage invasions into his own hands by throwing everyone back out to the audience. He's one angry fella, our Jake.

Heaven In Her Arms

Is my favorite song, almost ever.
Jone Doe pretty much kills it for being the best album, though I love the earlier stuff as well (When Forever Comes Crashing, Petitioning the Empty Sky, Caring And Killing and the spilts).

MrScagdenSir, go and see them live, it will be incredible and you don't have to put yourself in harms way if you don't want to?

You don't think I'll break my glasses then?

This is the problem with having the build and demanour of a bel and seb fan but a hardcore record taste...

i absolutely

love jane doe.

J Bannon

I've seen them 4 or 5 times now and they never disappoint. Just ferocious. I got a little bit bored of Jake's 'My girlfriend left me after 5 years' rant after hearing it 3 shows in a row, but he didn't do it last time.

They close with 'Jane Doe' last time, it was as close to perfect as I could imagine.

They are simply a cut above.

i was having a debate

with a friend the over night. Botch - We are the romans or Converge - Jane Doe ?

votes?

*other

.

both are brilliant,

i'm going to have to listen to them both again before i comment though

Agreed, both are great...

.....but Jane Doe wins for me.

...

Out of both? It's always been Botch. Nowt on Jane Doe comes close to the bone shattering grooves populating We Are The Romans.

A man who preferred mindless brutality over ruthlessly efficient heaviness might say the opposite though.

exactly

they're both great, but one band deals in shattering loud and discordant PAIN.

And the other is like a trainwreck in a John Woo film- meticulously planned and often feels like it's happening in slow motion.

We Are The Romans

without a doubt. I love Jane Doe but it just can't compete... We Are the Romans has always held it for me and to my ears is just about perfect.

And the original point of the thread... You Fail Me is to me as good as Jane Doe.

yeah having heard them both again just now

defo botch, they have far more dynamic. but then again i also prefer no heroes to jane doe, so what do i know?

Botch

Easy peasy. I'd go for Anthology of Dead Ends though.

Jane Doe is

a brutal album but my favourite song has to be 'The Saddest Day' off Petitioning the Empty Sky it's just 7 minutes of fury "Every time you justify, another good in you dies".

This has to be the best thread

that I have ever seen on DiS.

I only own

No Heroes and You fail me but I've heard Jane Doe loads.

I need to see this bastard band.

...

They're playing over these parts in June, aren't they? Man up!

I'd like to recommend

everyone here listens to the following songs. I've just had a little converge-off and realised that these are fucking ace.
You Fail Me:
Hope Street (as mentioned above already)
Drop out (the end of this is stupidly good)

No Heroes:
Sacrifice
Versus
Orphaned.

Thanks

Beecher!

!!! (For dramatic effect)

Beecher

indeed!

Fucking hell I'm annoyed they broke up.
All 3 records are fucking superb. When I got Breaking the fourth wall it was the besterest record I'd ever heard.

I only ever saw them once and that was before I'd heard them on record.

ive only got no heroes

please dont hurt me.it took ages to grow on me but when it did.fucking hell is it intense

For those

looking to delve deeper into their back catalogue, can I recommend looking for the remastered versions. The sound quality is superb and definately on a par with their later stuff.

botch v converge

Those are two of my favourite records. 'We are the Romans' vs 'Jane Doe'.

Like it was said earlier, Jane Doe is blind fury and really pummeling.

We are the Romans has lots of groove, and is slightly more open.

Both are amazing. Couldnt really separate the two and say one is better than the other, probably because they are so different.

And yeah, beecher were mean too.
