The Twilight Sad, the band everyone in Glasgow’s talking about according to Malcolm Middleton and who made it into the News of the World’s top three records of 2007, will tour again in March.

We’ve already told you about this, of course – but this article comes with the fresh news that former Aereogramme guitarist/keys player Dok will be joining the band’s ranks for the series of live shows, which has swelled since last month by two.

Fresh itinerary, with a change of venue for the Leeds date:

March
20 Edinburgh Liquid Rooms
21 Glasgow King Tuts
22 Aberdeen Moshulu
24 Manchester Night and Day
25 Nottingham Bodega
26 Reading South Street Art Centre
27 London 100 Club
28 Leeds the Library
29 Inverness Ironworks
30 Dundee the Doghouse

As well as playing in Aereogramme, Dok was also in Julia13. He’ll be “playing extra guitar, distorted organ and controlling loops,” according to the band. “Generally addddding more noise to our sound”.

More noise?

^^

that !

Cool.

I liked what he did with Aereogramme live, Reading should be good.

good news

i'm going to the South Street date so this makes me happy

Excitement

me too!

uh huh

well, tomorrow is my birthday and my ears will weep with joy in Edinburgh...

Hmmm

I'm uneasy about this. When they had people from Idlewild and Frightened Rabbit playing guitar with them at the Glasgow show just before christmas, it completely ruined their sound to the point I couldn't enjoy the show. The point of the Sad is that the guitar is an organic wash, but the second guitar resulted in a really unwelcome, grating overtone that added nothing melodically and absolutely destroyed their organicness.

Hopefully there won't be much of that tomorrow and at Tuts, I have too much love for them and can't bear to hear their tone ruined again. Fingers crossed. Cannot wait for these.

.

we, her name is calla, are supporting at the king tuts and moshulu dates. true story

Re. .

Would just like to say that Calla blew TRAiNS off the stage back in September and their presence in Glasgow was the deciding factor in getting a ticket. Still opening with Condor, I hope? ;)

they did the same in leeds

was the deciding factor in us booking them. that and they are BEAUTIFUL

Dok…

…is a tasteful guy. I’m sure this will work perfectly. I'd like a ticket for the tuts show.
