Music to run to

Interestingly, "1,000,000 died to make this sound" from the new Silver Mt Zion album is very easy to run to. You can imagine you're being pursued by the wounded beast of capitalism.

Anyone else? And don't say that LCD Soundsystem thingy.

Test Icicles

Basement Jaxx
The Prodigy
Static-X
Pitchshifter
The Perceptionists

are all things i can think of that i like to run to

i dont really run

im a lazy bastard who doesnt go to the gym.but if i did i would probably pick something like medulla has
fast,dancey.
or maybe something crazy like dillinger escape plan or converge (sorry im pretty obssessed with this band at the minute i seem to be mentioning them everywhere)

ooo

FOrgot about Converge.

Its gotta be loud else I start to relise what im doing and freak out that Im not on my sofa, eating crips.

I

have to listen to nothing but metal when running....

Everytime I Die works well, as does Slipknot.

You should be concentrating

on your breathing pattern and focusing on the pain in your lungs and legs.

Not some bloody song. FOCUS ON THE PAIN.

Also, its a good opportunity for delusional daydreams (whilst not forgetting to focus on the pain).

I like to stare violently ahead

whilst spitting out the words "PAIN IS ONLY WEAKNESS LEAVING MY BODY" loudly.

Springsteen!

Born to Run, natch. As the epic drum rolls kick in, you can speed up and wave your fist triumphantly in the air.

Also, the music from Rocky when he runs up the steps.

Arcade Fire works for me

Strong, steady beat I guess.

I'M A MAN

YES I AM

Minor Threat

First two EP's

Keeps the pace up and lasts about as long as I can currently manage walking brisk......running.

From my own research last night

we can definetly scrap Spacemen 3 from the list of good bands to run to.

I think sometihng of an electronic nature works best.
Personally i like to go for a bit of Kraftwerk

Currently

I'm finding Dan Deacon's Spiderman Of The Rings keeps me going.

Before that it was Blood Brothers' Young Machetes.

Before that it was Future Of The Left's Curses.

Dan Deacon! I do that too

Also someone else has mentioned 45:33 which is great for running to. The Crystal Method's "Drive" is similar.
I prefer mostly electronicyish stuff for running.
I once ran to Selected Ambient Works 85-92. It was scary.

It's Wham City that's best

The second quarter of that song is pure aural custard perfectly followed up with the rhubarb of the third quarter.

LCD Soundsystem

'45:33' was made for Nike specifically as a exercise soundtrack.

It's damn good too.

facepalm

"And don't say that LCD Soundsystem thingy."

There is that track that guy from DFA did though

You know, the one where halfway through it mixes in an instrumental version of Someone Great by that band Tyler Pope from !!! plays live with.

Good for running to.

My bad

I could claim at being funny, but I just didn't read the whole post.

Survivor - 'Eye of the Tiger', surely?

Otherwise anything like Pitchshifter, Senser, Ministry...

Ha! That reminds me.

There was a great story on the B3ta board, about someone who goes jogging all the time in London, and who has a motivational playlist on his iPod; you know, "We will rock you", "We built this city on rock and roll", that kind of thing.

What with him running around some dodgy parks, it did result in him having to fight off a mugger to the soundtrack of "Eye of the Tiger".

:D

That's the funniest thing I've heard all week.

which reminds me I should be on my way to the gym

I just plug my headphones into their tv thing and listen to whatever's on the Hits because I can't be bothered to buy an mp3 player. I prefer the cheesy dancy stuff they play to 'Top 100 Slow Jamz' or 'Top 100 Singer Songwriters'... both of which they have actually had on whilst I've been there. The best thing they ever had on was a Girls Aloud concert.

I run to Hoobastank

and Beastie Boys

Holy Fuck

Really works for me. Sometimes I start running when I didn't even intend to.

J'agree

HF really cheers me up when I'm running too for some reason.

Clark

'Turning Dragon' by Clark.
Wasn't really sure about it when I first got it (probably just wanted more loveliness just like Body Riddle!), but listened to it while running and it made much more sense!

mogwai

"I'm going out for a while.... I may be some time"

Rammstein

takes my pain away.

i tried running to 45.33

but it got really boring...
