I've collected footsteps before dawn.
Seen places I never knew existed.
Been a rabbit for the neighborhood dogs.
OBAYED THE VOICE IN MY HEAD.
Measured myself in metres, kilometres, and finally character.
I've plugged into a higher purpose.
LEFT THIS WORLD AND COME BACK CHANGED.
--------------------------
I went for my first run today. I probably ran more than I should've. I felt pretty bad when I got home AND I stood in dog shit.
--------------------------
Anyone else run? What did you listen to? I listened to Holy Fuck.
Blah, blah, blah.
i'd love to run
but i'm scared that people will judge me.
do it at 4am
that's what i do. plus then you don't feel you've cut any time out of your day.
yeah
you feel like complete and utter shit though.
nope
why do you say that?
4 AM?
getting up at 8am is bad enough.
but it's not so tough if you're doing it for this purpose
and once you start running, you'll have no problem being fully awake. plus having some early mornings in order to run feels way better than sleeping in all the time but not running at all. and if you run, the days that you do sleep in feel that much better. like waaay better.
4AM? 10K?
Urgh, I'm a looooooong way behind. What's it about running that's good other than PLUGGING INTO A HIGHER PURPOSE? I just wanted to lower my heart rate to ease my panic attacks and also to get to sleep better.
hahaha, who said anything about 10k?
Definitely not me. Never.
Holy something or other
That's pretty much superhuman. If I'm awake at 4am it's because I'm really hammered.
nah, not if i can do it
i'm a lazy slob at heart.
I reckon you'd get over it
When I first got my bike I thought everyone would laugh at a tall twat on a man's mountain bike. But I got over it.
yep i did run
i listened to beat connection by lcd soundsystem 3 times.
please
no one say 'you are a dickhead'.
I'm going for a run tonight
Holy Fuck will also be my soundtrack!
I'm going to go for a run tonight.
you have inspired me.
up to 10k twice a week
Wish it was actually doing something for my belly. :(
M.I.A. - Bamboo Banga works brilliantly.
yes
i've just gotten back to running again, after about a year-long hiatus. thread crossover: i took the opportunity to listen to los campesinos! and try to take it in with fresh ears again.
and i'll be running more regularly this time around
i wasn't really serious with it before; i completely slacked.
to gettin' n****s lifted
that song's gonna be in my head all night now!
I run.
But haven't since last Tuesday. I think I will go tomorrow morning.
Dog shit is a runners nightmare. Get used to it - and learn to look out for it.
DiSsers should run for charity.
Yes?
THIS^
is a great idea!
already am
anyone fancy joining me on the Manchester Great Run is quite welcome.
I ran this morning
to catch the bus
You a poof or summat?
I do
I will again tonight! It is very addictive but you could be addicted to something worse I suppose.
I run for about 50 minutes. If anyone has any idea how long 50 minutes is distance-wise I would be grateful!
I often listen to Funkadelic or Superfly. It works very well indeed.
HAZARDS
The main things to watch out for as it gets warmer are
- Fucking dogs jumping at you
- Fucking flies flying into your mouth.
On one occasion someone threw their Chinese meal over me from a passing car. Fortunately I was listening to some 'rocking tunes' so it didn't really matter. I ate some off my leg. It was black bean sauce. So watch out for that.
50 minutes @ 6 miles an hour
= about 5 miles? 8k?
Sounds good to me!
Cheers. One day I may be as fast as Roger Bannister. One day.
When I went running, it was Lightning Bolt all the way
i started last night as part of a general getupandgo drive
and made the mistake of only having arab strap and malcolm middleton on my mp3 player, which seemed to justify my stopping and wheezing every few minutes. tonight: arnocorps.
I just went running.
I listened to half of the youthmovies album. A dog tried to bite me (must've thought I was DanielKelly or something), and I lapped a fat girl.
Running is cool.
Yeah, I'ma do one tomorrow.
I'm listening to Hypermagic Mountain now in preparation. Dead Cowboy still makes me :O
I went for a run yesterday!
I listened to Retreat! Retreat! its like an instruction to your belly :P
I walk a lot
It's the same as running only slower.
I run into work most mornings
i might start doing proper running soon, once i figure out a good place to do it, i'm surrounded by hills. Where my parents live it's right by the countryside and that's loads better, nice stuff to look at and less people looking at you.
Holy Fuck
Is my running music of choice as well. Anything 'motorik' is good.
Also try philip glass, it helps you feel chilled when things arent so good.
i have
a perhaps unrealistic intention to start jogging this term. It'd make me feel fitter and also would get me up in the morning so I could start finals revision earlier in the day rather than crawling out of bed at 11.30.
I've always found it pretty hard in the past though, I find I can only run well if I have some sort of motivation for it (like sport or something). Am I right in thinking that 20 minutes would be a realistic time to aim for to start with?
Holy Schiesse!...
I too went for a run today, approximately between 2 o'clock and 3.
Soundtracked by 45:33
yeah^
20 minutes constant running is knackering!
I ran for about 20 minutes today
and apart from my weekly kickabout i don't exercise. By the end I was tired, but not completely shattered like I thought I would be.
start with interval training
and go for a bit more than 20 minutes.
is that
where you run for a bit and then walk for a bit and then run again?
basically
walk fast though. and look up a plan for it, don't just throw it together yourself. it will feel a bit easy at first, but as you bump it up you'll start to feel the effect, and it's a smarter effective way to get up to running shape when you haven't run in ages. you don't want to just go out and have at it carelessly when you're just starting.
ok!
cool. I'll go tomorrow, maybe.
20 mins would be about right to start with
But if you are starting don't make the first mistake most people make, running too fast. You'll get knackered super fast. Take it easy. Slow is good. To begin with anyway.
yeah
cheers. I think the last time I went jogging was about 3 years ago!
I run about 3 times a week
for around 45 minutes each time. It is weirdly addictive, as are other types of exercise I've found (weights, streching, swimming etc.)
I don't listen to any music while I run though. I just like to focus on my breathing pattern and the pain in my legs/lungs, and to have glorious daydreams about pretty much anything. Its fantastic. I can listen to music at home.
That were a good run
Running over the city bridge ftw.
run to
Ed Rec Volume 1
but skip the first track
and get to waters of nazareth.
