Whats your favourite album/Ep

Mines definately Plague Soundscapes, its just so loud and energetic.

New Erections i think is ok and i suppose they had to do something a bit different... but its just not really as good is it?

there's a really good bit

on safety second body last where the guitarist does a really good pick scrape.

aside from that plague soundscapes or flight of the owunded locust are the best.

I only have Plague Soundscapes

But it's enough for me. It is face meltingly quick and dynamic.

Plague Soundscapes

only for me too, and more than enough. I can't listen to it all that often.

saw them at the underworld

about six years ago...most mental gig i've ever been to. they had a support band with them that day that played for about 40 minutes...and they only played one instrumental song... mental.

Orthrelm

was the support band you saw. I saw them on that tour in Manchester, people walked out! I thought it was incredible. Their albums are punishing. The Locust were dead good too.

I don't think they were that interesting when they were a straight up grind band, but Flight Of The Wounded Locust onwards they've been incredible.

was that at the granby..

in manchester? if so i saw them there too! what a dive that place was, top gig though

Yes it was!

I'd just moved to Manchester, it was one of the first gigs I went to in the city. It was awesome! I got chatting to two guys from Beecher too, which was fun. They were telling me about recording with Kurt Ballou.

That place got shut down, didn't it? It was kind of opposite 5th Ave, or at least on that section of the street. It was a real hole.

im not sure if

its been shut down or jus re-vamped, havnt been passed for ages, but yea it was a real hole!

I'm pretty sure it was shut down

There certainly hasn't been a gig there for a good few years now. Pity, I quite liked the place.

The Castle on Oldham Street has now taken over as the grossest place to put on a gig in Manchester.

haha yea i agree my band

played there (the castle) once in that tiny little room that looks like it hasnt been decorated in about 50 years! was an ok gig tho haha

plague soundscapes is a special record

one of the most interesting heavy records there's ever been with tons of subtlety over the place. its so in your face you don't notice the bizarre harmonies and little electronic touches for a while. safety second is really great too, but i think they declined on new erections.

'The Locust' is also really good...

..., but I'm not going to be a dickwad and suggest that's it's a better record than 'Plague Soundscapes', because it's not. Totally agree about 'New Erections' being a cool attempt to try something different, but ultimately not as good.

As an aside, 'Heaven's Pregnant Teens' by Some Girls (who contain members of The Locust) is insanely good.

I <3 Some Girls.

Still annoyed that they split. When my site interviewed Justin he said they were working on new material. :(

My friend loves Some Girls

theyre good from what i have heard

I was listening to NE the other day

and i still insist the production is what lets it down.

Its certainly not as intense.

Probably Plague Soundscapes.

Although I really love the Safety Second Body Last Ep. The self-titled album is good as well. I never got round to buying New Erections though.

If you like The Locust, check out Holy Molar.

Plague Soundscapes

for me too.

theres something

about safety second, body last ep that does it for me, its just so cool.

Plauge Soundscapes

followed by the self-titled. Brand New Set of Teeth is the jam.

the real question is who has the best scream/wail?

:D

only got plague landscapes

brilliant album though

I think

New Erections is amazing. I know its completely different/trying something new etc. but I think it works. Although I might go for Plague Soundscapes. And yes Heaven's Pregnant Teens is awesome.

Yeah

I think New Erections is as good as anything they've done.

Definately down with Plague Landscapes

although I havn't really listened to New Erections it didn't really grab me the first couple of times. I also second whoever said to check out Holy Molar they're awesome.

I love

Plague Soundscapes and the Safety First/Body Last ep but New Erections is their best, it takes what they did with the aforementioned releases and smashes them together wonderfully.

Insanely amazing live as well, Gabe Serbian is such an amazing drummer.

Agreed on Some Girls, see also

Head Wound City
Holy Molar

Basically any band from Three One G

It seems to be quite an incestuous label; all the members of bands on it are in each others' bands sometimes.

If you see what I mean.

sure do

3 one G is one of my favorite labels.

all the bands that jp from the locust

has been in since the locust started basically sound the same.

i think swing kids was his finest moment.

I don't think

that's true

Head Wound City and Holy Molar sound nothing alike.

Daughters - Canada Songs

Is better than anything by The Locust, in my opinion anyway.

Never really dug Some Girls either, shame as they should have been amazing.

they're both good

but not a patch on the locust

I reckon

that Plague Soundscapes is better than Canada Songs, but Hell Songs is better than everything. New Erections was a bit of a disappointment, I thought.
