I feel like, having to re-buy my record collection, it would be a good investment to pay £49.99 for one of these turntables that digitally converts vinyl. do any of you have them, what is the convertion quality like?

ive heard they are a bit of a cash in

and not really any better than sing a normal one through the line in, but £49.99 seems pretty reasonable and would come with the software

I'd say it would be

quicker, easier and better quality to download stuff. Obviously this gets trickier with rare stuff but soulseek is quite good.
my dad has one and has copied loads of really old stuff but I haven't heard any I'm affraid.

I have one

It's good. Conversion quality is decent, and you can play around with it using software packages to improve it if you want. You can even take out the crackles if you're that way inclined. I don't bother - I quite like that.

Don't

Bother.

If you already have a record player, which i presume you do if you're wanting to convert vinyl to mp3, just get a decent external soundcard that you can use as an input for the audio from your stereo.

A 'USB turntable' just has a crap one of these built in for you that you can't use with anything else.

Well, that and a phono pre-amp, but you'll already have one of those in your stereo.

Have a look at M-Audio, they make decent cheapish ones.

i no longer have a turntable

and was also considering buying a USB version. but for less than fifty quid?! where did you find that mega deal?

i use mine to listen to records

and its quite useful if i want to send my friend some songs off my vinyls to listen to. Its pretty good quality too.
