Uncle John's Bands

I usually find BBC/John Peel Sessions a little flat- kind of like, yeah I know it sounds like David Bowie but it doesn't feel like him- so I pretty much quit bothering with these releases- till today. I just got RIDE "Waves" (Seventeen original BBC recordings fron the Radio 1 sessions: 1990-1994)- I think this is my favorite Ride CD. It makes me wonder what other Peel Session or BBC Session title is a must have?

The Shellac session

that was recorded as tribute to John Peel after his passing. The End of Radio...

Google Shellac End of Radio

and you should be able to find the session available for download.

these are bands to have released amazingly good BBC/Peel session cds/box sets

The Government Commissions CD

by Mogwai. It's all their BBC sessions. I think most, if not all, of them are Peel Sessions.

The first And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead one is mad too. Crazy ass Texans.

The Slits

Peel Sessions are pretty damned good, albeit rather different to "Cut".

Also: The Sonic Youth session where they solely cover The Fall. It's aces.

The Smiths

Many of them are on Hatful..., but a lot of the better ones are available online.
