Yes, as the title suggests. If Boris wins, there will be a by-election in his Henley constituency, a safe Tory seat.

Guess who is going to stand for the Conservative?

I know, and i'll reveal it shortly. It's an absolute zinger!

Portillo?

I'm going to say

Angela Rippon

or

Angela Nippon - the Japanese Angela Rippon impersonator.

Traynor?

sadpunk?

Carole Thatcher?

CJ de Mooi?
Neil/Christine Hamilton?

You?

It's such a safe Tory seat...

any old idiot could stand for the Tory party and still win.

Winner.

You clearly know very little about his father.

He is a former MEP, and an employee of the World Bank and the European Commission.

I'd say he's rather qualified.

I believe he also used to write for the Grauniad.

This was the low point of his career however.

I'm sorry, I can't look at Littlejohn and hear his voice

For more than 3 seconds before I vomit.

Also, well done, a small dog could spank Polly Toynbee in an argument. It doesn't stop Littlejohn being a despicable human being

The posting of the video wasn't a defence

of Littlejohn so much. In saying that, I do have a certain amount of sympathy for his point.

Sorry, when was the spanking?

I watched it all the way through.

he raised a good point near the start

then turned into a bit of a schoolyard nob the longer he kept talking.

he did something similar over tax earlier in the show when he agreed with polly

Ken Livingstone?

..........................................................................................................................

You?

apparently BoJo's grandfather on his mother's side

had the same surname as I do. maybe we're related?

GayGuevara?

*clicheguevara

I can never remember if you two are the same person or not...

We are different people.

But the question has already been answered, it's BoJo's dad.

...

Obviously, it'll be his dad, Stan. Can I be the only one who hasn't noticed him following the whole mayor circus around, putting his profile up?

has anyone

whp isn't Nick Robinson, who I don't think has a DiS account, mentioned that its St Boris' Day?

...

I was going to mention it. Half points?

Cunty McCunt

I think he might have done it.

Prepare for a lack of night buses, more union strikes, less tubes, no more refurbishment budget, a total mismanagement of the Olympics and a general decay of the city. It'll take about 3-4 years to unravel but mark my words.

FUCKING LONDONERS. WE'RE FUCKED JUST BECUAUSE HE MENTIONED "HOODIES". ARGH!

or...

perhaps Boris will surprise you. He's not a complete moron you know, his un/fortunately odd-ball personality doesn't necessarily mean he's incapable of running a city, it just means he's prone to saying something daft.

My point is most peoples opinions on the bloke are entirely personality or archaic party political bias related, and nothing pisses me off about political debate than the latter.

But again, what do I care, you Londoners squabble among yourselves.

yes

everyone who dislikes boris does so because of his WACKY PERSONA. and everyone who likes ken is blind to his RAMPANT CORRUPTION.

sigh.

hey

leave him alone, he's attractive.

snow_bridge?

or boris?

or ken?

Personally, my opinion is based on two things:

1) Any policies in his manifesto that are halfway decent are watered down versions of what Ken was either going to do or is about to do anyway. Anything else is either unaffordable or will be seen to be unrealistic and silly when actually attempted (bendy buses, for instance).
2) Pretty much every job he's ever done he's been fired from for incompetence. He has huge conflicts of interest from businesses in the capital who will want to take advantage of it. He has a history of dodgy dealings easily the equal of Ken. I could go on, but these things have been said many times already.

In short, there are two possible outcomes of Mayor Boris - the first is that he does what's in his manifesto, in which case it's nothing like the kind of action London actually needs, or secondly he's as incompetent in the position as he has been in everything else and ends up fucking the whole thing up.

He's a terrible, terrible candidate regardless of the party he's running for. I can't understand how even Conservatives can see him as a good choice except in a Ken-beating capacity. The man's a crook and a fool, with outdated and often offensive ideas. That people vote for him seriously worries me.
