Anyone else struggle to sleep last night because of football-related angst?
A Stern John hat-trick and 4 Leicester players sent off in the first 10 minutes of their game, please.
At worst, I've got an away day to Swindon to look forward to next season...
are you going to the game judgeface?
No,
I'm going to remain a bag of nerves on the comfort of my own home...
Me too.
Five Live.
Sky Sports News.
Me.
Several cups of tea.
And one massive brick, just there.
if it's any consolation, southampton fans
as a fellow relegation-struggler, i'd rather see leicester go down than soton
even though that permutation will mean major nerves for me in the next couple of hours :/
Is that just 'cos Saints staying up means Sheff Utd losing?
;)
do you know, that thought had never entered my mind, not for a second
I just can't believe...
...how many different outcomes there are today.
We could thrash United and go down.
We could drag out a nil nil and stay up.
Blackpool could yet go down - Watford will need to win, really. And B'pool are 18th!
Crazy, crazy season.
So: come on Stoke, come on Watford.
Charlton have nothing o play for so Cov will probably do them.
Want us to get a 2-0 lead early doors an then I'll settle.
actually, i really hope Blackpool don't go down
such a pretty kit
They have a lovely top
I still have one I bought in Blackpool 2 or 3 years ago :)
Oh man
This is not going to be pretty. I think we can scrape together a win through pluckiness, grit, determination, and other such staples of teams in the Championship who aren't much good at the moment. Stern John will save us (plus Sheff Utd have a weak-ish side today).
And COME ON STOKE.
I'm not over-nervous.
We're the only team in the top 6 with nothing major to resolve today as we're in the play-offs but can't get automatic.
At the same time I'm hoping results go our way elsewhere as I really want it to end with us 4th and Watford 5th as, with all respect to Watford, I feel that their recent form gives us the best chance in the play-offs...
At the other end I kind of want Leicester to stay up (due to Holloway's Bristol connection, even if he was a Rovers player) and Wednesday to stay up (for reasons completely unknown to myself I supported them as a kid). Ideally I'd like Blackpool to stay up too on account of being underdogs. So by process of elimination I suppose it comes down to Saints or Coventry for me. I've probably got more affection for Saints than I have for Coventry...
Watford's play-off record is excellent though
AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS.
Palace still scare me far, far more...
as a crewe fan
i should really hate the fact that stoke are gonna go up...but fuck it, good luck to 'em. its gonna be funny/weird watching them in the premiership next year...
wednesday will be safe with a win
or if southampton fail to win. (there's other permutations involving leicester of course)
and southampton are playing sheffield united. so...i have to cheer for the blades? but...?
united will lose.....
unless they go in at half time and realise they can still make the playoffs.
OHgodohgodohgodohgodohgodohgodohgod
Blackpool make the first move
and lets all laugh at Watford
Oh god Coventry make a go of it
do't throw it away Chris Coleman can't go down!
Fuck it...
Looks like we're in danger of getting a good team in the play-offs.
Looks like Palace
Do not fancy you for that at all.
I'd say it's the play-offs and anything can happen.
But in truth we wouldn't stand a chance...
i'm not nervous
we (colchester) are already down, but i'd like us to win obviously...
3-1!
woo.
3-2
:(
Southampton BEHIND!
Amazing.
They've been the better team as well
southampton are fucked
and sheffield utd move into playoffs, shows you how bad robson is as a manager
09/10 Soton v Aldershot Hampshire League 1 derby looking good
:D
I don't understand how Saints have done so badly with decent players like Saganowski and Viafara. Are they really bad defensively?
Southampton must haemorrhage so much money
They have made so much over the last few seasons off the likes of Bridge, Walcott, Bale, Jones
... and still are in finacial crisis
soton equalise!
Get in!
I'm nervous.
I'd quite like Ipswich to get into the play-offs, and at the moment all it takes is a goal...
I'd be at the ground if it wasn't for having to work... :(
Plus
That goal that was disallowed should've stood...
OHMYGOD
How many chances do we need?
YES
Now could Watford please lose?
Southamton safe!
Leicester going down!
2-1 to wednesday
that's a relief, if we can hang on it's okay
oh, and southampton take the lead!
leicester going down at the moment
Come on Stoke!
I could think of no better team to get relegated in the championship than leicester city...
I want Soton to go down for no discernible reason
If Leicester go down it will be their first ever time in the third tier.
How was the Leeds game in the second half?
I saw they won 2-1?
yeah it got much better!
we actually passed the ball around properly for a start. first leeds goal was one of the best i'v ever seen, a volley from the edge of the box and the crowd were awesome (nothing quite like the sound of 39,000 people singing marching on together..)
The only three result changes I now want...
Leicester to beat Stoke.
Watford to beat Blackpool
Hull to beat Ipswich.
Thus putting Stoke, City, Watford and Place in the play-offs.
City seem back on form and might conceivably beat Watford.
Stoke would be so crushed by losing promotion they'd be out of form for play-offs.
A play-off final v Palace'd be tough but we could fluke it in a way we might not over two legs...
Watford have equalised - woohoo!
Fuckit, Palace have scored again.
Come on Watford!
ooh exciting
I can hear the crowd at the saints game from my room. I haven't heard that since the opening game at the stadium
My mate Scott lives just south of St Marys
He's just texted me saying he can hear some of the chants.
i just heard a massive roar
have saints scored again?
2-2 at Soton!
Stead volley.
southampton down again!
and back up!
3-2 Soton!
WTF? Stern scores!
leicester down again!
3-2 to saints
Haha
This is hilariously topsy-turvy. Nuts, this is what football is all about.
this is ridiculous
wednesday 3-1 up, we're safe
hopefully
4-1
:D:D:D:D
live table
http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/tables/cc_champ.html
Leicester
denied a clear penalty supposedly.
radio said it was outside the box
BBC website
said inside
I should just be watching the bloody thing really
It was just outside
watching it live
Stern John sent off for Saints
Could be a nervy last ten.
And the first booking was for taking his shirt off after scoring.
!
can we stop the yellow cards for taking shirt of for celebrating goals yet?
It is a needlessly petty thing to give a booking for.
I'm pretty much aping the radio guy word for word but he's right when he says Holloway's made the changes too late...
PS Wednesday more than sorted now.
I always thought they'd be fine...
Why do players get booked for that?
Its nonsense
Mighty eagles are safe, Leicester are really pushing forward, but no luck, and two great saves by the stoke keeper
Shit...
Sounds like something unpleasant's happened to the Plymouth captain at Wolves...
Could be 10 minutes of injury time as a result apparently.
Now that we (afcb)
have gone down, it would be sort of a treat if Saints drop too, but also annoying that we wont be there to play them.
In short, I dont know how to feel.
Wolves 1 Plymouth 0
Wolves need one more goal to get past Watford.
Injury time at St Marys
3 mins.
Don't they need 2 more?
Isn't Watford's GD 2 better with Watford having scored more goals?
So it is
Misread the table.
Oh well.
doh
pitch invasion at Stoke and the game isn't over yet!
Stoke have drawn 0-0
Stoke are officially up.
Pitch invasion at Stoke
And the game is not over.
But it is over at St Marys. Leicester are down I think.
And now it's confirmed.
So bar Wolves getting 2 goals, we now know everything...
congrats to
Stoke for promotion, and Soton for staying up.
points and laughs at Leicester
Which way' s North?
I'm not sure where I'd point.
I feel sorry for Holloway though, although he must feel stupid about quitting Plymouth now...
sucks to be him
he didn't conduct himself well, and it's a lesson he's got to learn, as "well-liked" as he is for being a poor man's strachan
Poor Ian :(
haha
i'm pleased leicester have gone down. big LOL @ holloway.
WHY IS THE WOLVES MATCH STILL GOING?!
Bad injury to the Plymouth Captain.
Took some minutes...
I'm sorry we fell away as a Bristol City fan
But, on balance, I'd probably say West Brom and Stoke are the two teams that have deserved it the most and I wish 'em all the best next season.
Biased though I am, I think it's probably the right 4 teams in the play-offs too. Hull and Palace have been great in recent months and City and Watford were involved with the automatic tussle for too long for it to have been fair on 'em to miss out.
At the bottom Scunthorpe and Colchester were obviously the two weakest sides. Not sure if Leicester deserved to be third bottom. I mean of course they did 'cos they got less points than everyone else but none of the five teams down there could have felt hard done-by if it had been them...
Delighted Wednesday stayed up though.
aww, thanks paul :)
Wednesday were my 'Premier League team' as a teenager
so I didn't feel left out watching MOTD...
Palace v Hull final me thinks
Both the form teams
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS times 100!!!!!!
What an amazing weekend this has been!
Forest up
Leicester Shitty down!
It really doesn't get better than this...
Yeah
I agree, would be surprised if Watford and Bristol City can turn their recent poor form around for the playoffs (Watford is 1 win in 14 or something - crazy)
City have had 2 1/2 good games now...
Admittedly we lost 2 of the matches but I think the blip is over and the forms turned around. Palace are obviously in better form but I think we're more equipped to give 'em a match than we have been for a couple of months...
Looks likely.
Although City have started clicking back together again over the last couple of games so I wouldn't rule us out entirely.
But on form Palace have to be the favourites...
Palace to win the playoffs for me
Just a hunch, don't know why!
It's hard to celebrate staying up after such a bad season,
but then it's also hard to see what I'm typing with tears in my eyes. We've been bad enough since the turn of the year that we probably deserved relegation but as that hasn't happened, here's to some massively wealthy benefactor sinking their money in to us and maybe a top-half finish next season.
