and the driver got really angry at me and made me cry and it hurt and now she's trying to charge me for the tiny damage i caused and she took my name and number. anyway, panic aside, she has insurance, right? i don't *have* to pay, right? she's going to call me on saturday, i'm really scared of her.

joke answers about how i only bought the bicycle today and have already crashed welcome.

no!

what if she sees me around again? i was too scared to do that, she'd run me over or something.

ya there is that danger..

but really...if she does that then you can sue her and be rich!!!

^She Really Does

shes prob got her numberplate you know!

its a basic requirement when someone hits your car!

take your oil

and pay for the damage.

she's fucking fine

she was in a metal shell, i was the vulnerable one on the bicycle!

sorry

I didn't actually read the post. I was under the impression this was a two-way thing between cars.

i crash all the time

the front wheel fell off my bike and i totally clattered myself in front of loads of kids from school. i was going fast too. serves me right for only spending a fiver on it.

itll be okay. if she calls you just say you cant pay. her premiums might go up.....what happened to it? maybe she wont call. i hope youre okay.

i broke a wing mirror and scratched about two inches of paintwork

i kind of wish i was in more pain really, she'd have had more sympathy then. although she stopped being quite so mean when i cried a bit.

does anyone know how much i might have to pay?

.......

she could get that fixed so cheap. slag.

New wing mirror £90

and thats for my car which has no electrics in the wing mirror. Will also have to paint an area of the car not just the scratches. Depending how deep the scratches are may need to do some bashing aswell. NOT CHEAP.

fuck

i am actually nearly crying

Yeah sorry about that.

If it makes you feel any better these are things I've had to pay for due to scallywags beating on my car.
Tbh I don't reckon you'll have to pay. Just tell the lady your 16 or something.

ooh

i like that idea.

i spose

heres my plan. find out from her what shes been quoted for the repair. then if thats loads. find her car make and model and buy the wing mirror off ebay... and the paint.....maybe...

:(

that sucks. And yeah, she can make you pay, even if she does have insurance. If it was your fault, or if a judge decides if it was your fault, if you go to court.

(But this is just how it works in America, I don't know that it's the same over there, obviously.)

you might as well just leave the country

she's going to sue you big time.

Whoever told u to do that

SHOULD GET A BAN REQUEST

yeah

but the front light is broken. god i'm such a dick! i fucking bought that thing today. christ.

Crash into the car

*based off of ur previous thread askin for activities*

hahaha

It would've been better not to give a phone number

just address. From experience with my mother and (frequent) crashes, nothing good can come of the other party having your number.

My advice = just don't answer your phone to an unknown caller. Cause that wouldn't be worth claiming on insurance.

Why do you let your mum drive at all

if she crashes all the time? You should be doing the driving.

I have no intention of driving ever

And I have nowhere to go that requires driving to ever.

Did you admit any liability?

Is there any chance she was in the wrong? If there's any doubt at all, just dispute her version of events. With any luck she won't be arsed to pursue it very far.

Yeah, even if you did admit liability

You can always just say it was because you were in shock and feeling intimidated or whatever....

yeah but what if she sees me again?

nothing scares me more than the idea of someone out there wanting me dead, or similar.

Just believe it yourself

Be so confident and assertive in it not being your fault that you get convinced it wasn't.

I assume she has your address?

I'd still go with not answering the phone, if she has enough money to fix it she quite well may not be bothered of going to the hassle of contacting further. And if she threatens taking you to court or whatever just say you're unemployed (you are still technically, yes?) and really don't have anything... I don't know.

really

how much damage would a bike do to a car? i think the silly boot is overreacting.

was it your fault?

i crashed into a car once but it was his fault as he went into a gas station as i was riding across it, on the road. he just drove off. my bike and me were ok though, just hurt a bit.

hope you are ok!

nah i think cyclists are complete idiots sometimes

they are a car sometimes, and a pedestrian when they want to be.

i try and be as careful as i can, but i think its just as likely to find the cyclist being the twat as the motorist.

that could have been phrased a lot better

they want to be treated as if they were a car when it benefits them, but equally a pedestrain when they want to be.

it's great! you get to:

switch from sidewalk (oh that's another word! "pavement") to road whenever you feel like it, run red lights, then cut down a grassy hill. oh god i love biking.

you are historys greatest monster!

i cycle too, but i dont do anything like that.

ya but i have no desire to live

and this really comes through when i'm out biking.

uhoh i just realized that

pocketmouse is going to try to run me over in her smartcar. oh god. good thing i'm tough as a moose and i'll detroy her meeasly car!

ha ya i know, but as i said below

it's all warfare :) it's part of the fun. (i don't mean i go around trashing cars)

i crashed into a car on my bike, once.

But it was parked so i silently limped away never to face the wrath of whoever owned it. ahh.

tell her to get to fuck.

I've had similar things happen to me. The best thing to do is to kick off, tell them you won't be giving her nothing and advise her that she should jog on. Firstly, you shouldn't have given her your details, it's not as if you were in a car and had a plate number. Don't give her any money, tell her to get three quotes for repairs and if you're not happy with them then get a couple done yourself if you can. A lot of motorists are cunts and they'll insist that you go go the proper garage and pay over the odds, you need to tell her to piss off. I'd stash the bike at a friends house and completely deny it, unless you were on camera somehow.

yup it's true klaire.

it's all warfare between motorists and bicyclists.

i can't tell her to get to fuck

i am actually the least confrontational person ever when it comes to strangers. i get scared and i basically just roll over and do whatever they want. luckily when she calls i'll be at atp so i can just get someone else to answer the phone or something. oh god :(

get richard to do it

he'll know what to say

Why such a harsh attitude to drivers, Twee?

When you're in the wrong the proper thing to do is admit it and face the consequences. Sucks sometimes but that's life.

If it were my car and someone smashed into it accidentily, i'd first check if they were alright and then check to see if the damage was worth getting fixed. The small scratch i wouldn't give a shit about but if someone knocks your wing mirror off, why the hell should you pay for it?

have you not seen how Some people

react to itybity scratches though?
i had a girl freak out on me once when my car door touched her car. it put some mud on it, she thought i was a scratch, she started screaming "you fucking bitch" instantly. even when we discovered it was just a bit of mud i thought she was going to murder me, she just kept on screaming...

Well she probably deserved a slap.

Admittedly, some people are cunts, but if the accident was all Klaires fault then there's not much that can be said.

I had a brand new car a couple of years back and i actually looked forward to the day that it got a scratch on it. That way I could stop worrying about it and treat it for what it was; something to get me from A to B and not a fucking Ming vase.

squalid

Was it your fault? My friend had a similar experience. Basically this stroppy bitch in a girt 4x4 pulled left in front of her. She had no chance. So as she lay on the road the driver got out and immediately got all BIG on her in an effort to make look like it was my friends fault.
Anyway there were witnesses who leapt to her defence and all was ok. Well, apart from a bent front wheel and bruising.
So. Was it definitely your fault and were there witnesses?
Hope you and the bike are OK btw.

didn't you just get the bicycle?

that's awful :( hopefully she'll come to her senses and let you off.

A lot of times

motorists just get pissed off very easily because they know they weren't paying full attention and are really quite scared they could have killed someone. I'd be surprised if she'd think about calling you up once she'd got back home.

I did this too

when I was younger. Just after I got my first bike too. The motorist was really mean, they made me paint the scratch with some 'chipstick' or something. It's honestly scarred me for life, I never cycle anymore :{

Weak

You should have scratched HIM with the fucking chip stick!

no!

i love my bicycle so much, and it was stupidly expensive, i don't want to never cycle again, but now i'm really scared :(

Sad to hear of your accident, Klaire.

But don't let it put you off cycling again. the best thing to do is get straight back on your bike tomorrow and start again.

Can i just ask, did it happen on a road or pathway? Also, was the mirror (the actual mirror bit) smashed? If so these are cheaply replaced and can be bought from Halford for abnout £6. Also, if it was a newish car, i'm sure the wing mirror bit can snap back in, unless it fell off completely?

If the damage isn't very severe,

she won't claim on her insurance as it isn't worth it, she'll try to get you to pay it.

Don't answer your phone to her. Seriously. If you ever do bump into her again or whatever, just say you must have missed the calls.

Good morning!

Sorry to hear about your accident : (
I reckon you should ignore any calls you receive. Or if you are feeling brave, speak to this woman, or even get a family/ friend to take the call. You shouldn’t accept any liability for the incident, as unless there are witnesses or camera evidence to prove you are the guilty party, it is probably unlikely you could be successfully sued for the damages.
The wing mirror isn’t likely to be too expensive to replace but the paint work could cost a fair whack, so best to avoid paying out if at all possible.

Obviously if solicitors get involved then you might want to reconsider but it is probably unlikely it will get that far.

Good luck!

When she calls

Just answer and tell her you aren't paying anything and if she doesn't back off, you'll sue her for smashing into you.

Hello

My name is Mr. Snrub and I come from some place far away

:D

Ahhh, you've found my user page — excellent...

tell er

that you hadn't realise at the time cause you were in shock, but you have broken something or got some sort of injury that means you won't be able to sort anything out for a few days. then cry, then get away with it!

If it was your fault

then pay up, simple as that. Fuck all this ignoring phone calls business.

finally

some sense.

^

a guy at work had someone dink his car

quite softly, with another car, not a bike

tiny mark on the paintwork, but there's a dent, and the white paint underneath shows (it's a silver car)

£250

I can't imagine a bike did so much damage though

YOU'VE NOT SEEN KLAIRE ON HER BIKE

SHE'S A SPEED DEMON!

How did this accident happen?

Details please.

I've done the same thing today

I did the exact same thing today, I freaked out and gave her my real name, a fake address and my real mobile number (Because she rang it to check).

I got an advice from a friend to just ignore the calls, and also, get a friend (preferably of a different sex) to do a greeting on your answerphone using a totally fake name.

Like with me, I very much doubt that the bitch will get lawyers and all that red tape bollocks.. I'm still shaking and I'm still nervous, but that's just the adrenaline I expect.

Klaire, what say me and you band together and bloody well ignore them both?
If you like, we could talk about it more through MSN Messenger?

I very much doubt she will try and make anything

of it.

Bicycle into a car, seems like a bit of a grey area to me.
