wow the York gig was amazing started off mellow with pretty much just me and a couple of Mae-Shi at the front watching the Loinheart Brothers they were pretty good. JoFo came on and where really good. They were getting heckled from The Mae-Shi, with shouts of SINGLE! I LOVE YOU GUYS and genraly confusing comments, brilliant. JoFo got confused about a girl with a sword, turn out she got it from Whitby and you cant buy JoFo swords from the merch stand, you can however but lots of CD's and fashion them into knives or strange people with JoFo T-shirts if you so wish, excelent advice from the JoFo. Then we get to the main event.....
THE MAE-SHI!!! just about the most fun band I have seen ever. They played most of the set in the crowd with us dancing with them/laying on the floor/jumping around/shouting..... the guitarist from what I can tell pretty much came from behind us in the toilets or somat at the begining god knows where the drummer came from. It was a joyful romp of the highest order. Pretty serreial in places with chants of STAGE CAGE! and POISON.... A nice Lo-Fi costume change leading to a Westlife moment.... The to top it all off at the end they invited me and most of the people who where going mental for them up on stage for the lat tune for dancing, drinks and to play there instruments.... They dismantled the drum kit and spread it round the venue for the crowd to play and gave us guitar and I took over on Base for a while and smacked out some powercord action.... Then it was over everyone amazed at what had just gone on The Mae-Shi are the ultimate party band. realy nice guys too we were chatting and mingeling with them after the show they were really glad people where goin mad for them on a wednesday and they declaired them selves from York LA and they felt at home... Brilliant. Go and see them ummm now or when their on next... that is all.
Was gonna go to this
kind wish I had now.
it was alot of fun
not many people there at all so quite a few of us decided to get really involved and they loved it and so did we.

utterly amazing, such exuberance! i knew they'd be energetic, but had no idea they'd be to that level, it was impossible not to grin the entire way through. good mix of old and new stuff and amazingly nice guys. looking forward to seeing them at nasty fest in a bit. jofo were excellent too, great stuff in general. a rare occasion in york i think

hehe thats how the beauty started.
I love The Mae-Shi!
Bump
to see if any of you Scot's are on the fence about going to see them in the next few days and need a bit of encoragment.
i went to the glasgow
gig. i have to say johnny foreigner were the better band, does no one agree? yes the mae shi were a exciting live experience but jf were the superior musicians (first time i saw them, not a bias fan either).
sure JoFo where ace musitians
and there songs are ace too. Its just Mae Shi where so much fun. I love them both
yeah!
cannot wait for the Sheffield date, who's coming down? it's going to be awesome, deciding whether im sad enough to buy both jo fo and the mae-shi's new singles and get them signed! too sad?
yes
only kidding. by the way, I'm playing only Prince, Talking Heads and Wire when I DJ. just so you know.
no worries
we are very much looking forward to playing a best fwends hour at the discover showcase, just think how many best fwends songs you can fit into an hour :P
why not get um signed hehe
The Mae Shi are even selling there little noise machines that you can wave about and make mad noises, they made them them selevs and everything
so it was nowt bad?
i bet it really sucked-NOWT!!
haha I reckon thats a miss use of yorkshire
right there.
You've just made me remember
they gave us beers on stage...and I think I threw mine around too much. I had that bass on too, and I had no fucking clue what to do with it...I think I did a little jig whilst generally mashing up the strings with drunk hand.
Such a good show...are you seeing them at Nastyfest? I was going to go back to uni to do revision, but fuck it, i'm staying a few more days to hit them up again.
haha it got kinda wet and berry up there on stage
I'm hoping to see them again at Nasty Fest yeah I need to get my ticket soon.
Beery*
I saw The Mae-Shi and Johnny Foreigner
in Liverpool last night and they were both as excellent as they appear to have been elsewhere. Johnny Foreigner are one of the most endearing bands I have seen for quite a while - anyone who's read the Jo-Fo DiS blog couldn't help but want them to do well, I suppose. They are certainly good enough. Top, top band. The Lionheart Brothers, although they only played a very short set, were totally sound and showed why they get a fair bit of love on here, I thought. Class drummer.
I agree
JoFo where very endearing indeed, I wished them luck and one of the Mae Shi called them sweet hehe. The Lionheart Brothers where good it isn't really my cupa tea there style but it was enjoyable and I will look out for more of there stuff incase I must somat.
fuck yes
i actually cant wait for this now
your gona love it hehe
:)
