Great young UK songwriter who could have a cracking future ahead of him. Nice distinctive voice too - I love everything on his myspace and really hope he gets something released soon.

'Friend we weren't even lovers' is an instant classic. Not sure I've seen any mention of him here...

the stuff that i've heard of his

i thought was pretty rubs. but i know some people who are well into him.

i think he's fantastic

he's playing the O2 arena soon, which is well weird.
his songs do keep getting better and i hope he goes somewhere.
he's not really a 'DiS' kinda guy though.

hey neecho

did you ever see Justin's band before Eldora Parade, called The Money Hungry Clergymen? i auditioned to be their vocalist, HAHAHAHA! i sung Blitzkrieg Bop in the most english voice imaginable.

not bad, have seen him do a couple of support slots...

good voice and such, but a couple of tracks were blatant bright eyes rip offs, i mean blatant.

really?! i've never heard a trace of bright eyes in his songs

and i have also seen him alot. odd.

i mean

only in the sense that some of the songs are bitter folk songs...but that's not an exclusive bright eyes thing.

listening to the myspace...

i disagree with myself, but live, without the production values, i really felt it... i agree that such a 'type' is not the exclusive preserve of bright eyes, but there were just one or two using that cmaj/fmaj, rolling couplet, slightly inverted intonation thing, that was very reminiscent...

again, not a condemnation really, just something i felt, liked him well enough.

i've known this guy since

his old band called eldora parade which sadly broke up but he certainly has come a long way- he's playing the 02 arena!

The Eldora Parade

could have made a great album, such a shame they fell to bits. Anyone know what happened? I only heard about them on the day they split up, then sort of kept an eye on Jay - glad he's kept writing.

well i think they were

all just going there seperate ways.

luke leighfield obviously had his solo stuff

jay jay had his thing

i think the bassist was in some band that were kinda like test-icicles and i dunno what happened to the rest.

although they claimed it "just got boring"

whilst we're on the subject

the eldora parade were awesome!
and i know justin from school :)
nice chap.

The Eldora Parade

were better than either mine or Jay Jay's stuff! Justin wrote most of it anyway, and I think he wanted to pursue the kind of stuff he's doing now, rather than writing pop. We just started to clash a bit about what we wanted to do in rehearsals, and it made sense to break it off.

Also, the fact that we were THE GREATEST BAND EVER and didn't get signed was pretty annoying and caused tension. Plus we made a demo and it never got sent to us and we lost loads of money. Sad times.

Thanks for that Luke

I still often listen to The Eldora Parade.

The...

... bass player and the drummer are in a band called Great Dames.

ooh.

i didn't know that.
they were good and therefore have rememebered where i know luke leighfield from.

I thought he was ace when I saw him support Okkervil River

Look forward to hearing more of his stuff!

Sawhim support Frank Turner

a while back along with Blah Blah Blah - his version of 'Winter Wonderland' is pristine.

Really promising talent

the We Are Free/Holly single he released a few months ago is lovely.
