If I put on a 2 day noise/noise-rock/experimental festival, who would you want to play?

So yeah, i'm thinking of putting on a 2 day noise 'festival' this summer. Like the old No Trend events, which I don't think happen any more sadly.

Who would you want to see play?

I've already got a lot of acts in mind that I would like to play (Kylie Minoise, BBBlood etc), but i'm looking for acts that are big enough to headline.

Any ideas? Does anyone know of foreign bands that are touring the UK this summer?

Either way, all suggestions welcome.

Oh, and as an aside, has anyone been to Cafe Oto in Dalston? i'm thinking of using this venue as it sounds like the right kind of place but i've never been there.

Zombie Zombie

to headline.

They're touring this summer.

Just checked their myspace.

Sadly it looks like they've already got about 5 London dates.

Which is good I suppose because i'd like to see them again!

BLOODGROUP

ya!

.

bbblood is like the ghost of christmas past to london noise artists. he's always lurking somewhere, offering a collaboration or filling up bills. less 3rd rate filthy turd please.

usurper and jazzfinger would be nice but i doubt they'd come down for a one off gig.

Filthy Turd will also be on the line-up.

I'm thinking maybe Consumer Electronics to headline one day.

It's a pretty small scale thing.

I think Jazzfinger maybe would

they did for the Colour Out Of Space thing and some other gig in London last year iirc

The last time I saw them they were ridiculously good.

Skullflower and Astral Social Club would be good too.

afrirampo...

do it

Cool buzz!

#

that would rule

.

ive had a gander on there site...

and its blank, so that's a no.

Acid Mothers Temple

are playing White Heat at some point in August. Don't know if it's part of a tour, but this would be an awesome headliner.

I believe that

tracey is hot and the clap is unusual, and racuous and I cant believe they would be expensive.
(anything involving RockNRollMassacre or Al***k?

tracy is hot and the clap

finished a long time ago because of artistic and personal differences

the shrieking violets, my anarcho-folk duo are available though. think The Fugs meets Will Oldham, but worse.

HAhahahahahaha

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

^

john

haha

gayguevera *does* owe me a gig

MK. 9

You won't regret it. Not sure where he's from though, or if he tours much these days. Sudden Infant would be a good choice, I think he resides in London now, and is never disappointing live. My friends have a drone/noise/experimental group called Diath, look them up on myspace or something. You could always ask Men Of Unitus, I always think they'd suit that sort of bill. And there's Bromancer too...fuck, I could go on all day.

Hehe, funnily enough i've already asked Bromancer.

As I say, i've got a million bands that could make up the 'filler' (this is not to be deregatory toward those bands!)

It's headliners i'm interested in really. I want to get a decent touring band.

What about Burning Star Core?

I don't know if or when he's touring, but he'd be a perfect candidate. And he's absolutely mindblowing live.

YES YES YES!

This is this is the kind of act I'm thinking about for a headliner.

Got a pretty big fanbase, but should still be relatively easy to goet hold of.

I'll get in touch with him.

If he's not touring you may still be able to book him

Although I imagine he'll be expensive. Are you looking for any free jazz/avant garde? Could pull a different crowd...

Well, it'll be a two day thing,

and with the average set being relatively short, i'd probably book quite a few band, from all 'experimental' genres. I guess most of the bands i'd choose would be connected by a certain 'mindset' rather than a certain sound.

Of course, i'd have to hope that a lot of them will be willing to play for free/very little money!

I know a few people from the free jazz community

who would probably play for a fair price, all of whom have a strong reputation and a good following. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Oh, Steve Beresford

I have one album of his and have seen him live once. The album is a collection of Doris Day covers, and his live show was Beresford with various toys and gadgets, and he was making the most surreal racket I've ever heard.

SAFE

if any Japanease noise artists available?

Most have done the rounds very recently (merzbow, acid mothers temple, boris) in the UK already..

If they are available then these...

Good idea!

I'm not actually a massive fan, but they'd definitely be a good headliner. I'll contact them.

Actually, i'm going to ask

Take a Worm for a Walk Week.

They don't technically fill my own criteria, but I just really like them!

DJ1000000000

doubt he's touring, but worth asking.

Where's he from?

I always assumed he was from the U.K. I can't begin to imagine what his live sets are like.

isn't he Japanese?

I know he's on Adaadat / 19-t. Just presumed he's based in Japan.

i thought it was

the other name for DJ Scotch Egg. i could be wrong though.

Kylie Minoise definitely

Insectoid
helsesten (www.myspace.com/getinvolvedwithonfire i think)
Feral Choir

loads more

What about...

Team Brick,

Jazzfinger

or

Dressed in Wires?

As much as I like Team Brick

I can't help but think his music is a bit 'chin-strokey' at times.

try french band

10LEC6 !

^ yes plz

^^ yes!

and put on CPWK with them too, that'd be awesome....

and Noxagt are over in July, as are Acid Mothers but i think their dates are going, going, gone. I'm trying for the 29th but venue's being wank!

Guapo?

New album out on Neurot so they might be up for promoting it.

Afrirampo deffo, but

could be hard to book!
British bands..
Bilge Pump, Ack Ack Ack... all that lot ya know.

Prurient.

...

What are Ruins doing this summer?

What are Adebisi Shank doing this summer?

Get

Mick flower and Chris Corsano to headline. They both live in the UK so they properly wouldn't be to expensive to book. I saw them play a one off show in Glasgow a while back and it was absolutely mindblowing.

Ben Reynolds

does a mix of avant-noise improv and finger-picking Fahey stuff.

Based in Glasgow though, might be able to catch him on a tour.

Without wanting to sound stupid

What about the likes of Trencher / Shitmat / Scotch Egg ?

Sunflower (or is it Sunroof?)

Prurient if he is in the country.
Noxagt and Dalek may be around.
Strap The Button/Exploits Of Elaine/Glissando probably do some noisy collaborative stuff.

Oren Ambarchi

is in the UK in July. That would be awesome.

Also <JAG alert> I would be happy to be a filler band

http://www.myspace.com/happyhouratthebusinessschool

I haven't been to Cafe Oto but in that general area I always thought Catch is a great venue for bands and they're very enthusiastic about doing all dayers

Honey Ride Me A Goat

Fucking amazing band. Touring with them soon and can't wait.

http://myspace.com/hrmag

Some ace stuff suggested already

can I also put forward:

- Blood Stereo

- Ashtray Navigations

- Skullflower

- Birds Of Delay

Oh

I just remembered, it would be ace if you also booked:

- Chora (personal favourites)

- Divine Coils

Melt-Banana

Would be a good one for headlining :)

Oh yeah (part two)

how about Charalambides? They're playing in London in summer with Beach Fuzz, who also wouldn't go amiss

I would WANT Merzbow and Boris

to play 'sun baked snow cave' in its entirety. But that's not going to happen.

Extra votes for Skullflower and Burning Star Core.

DYSE

awesome!

Get any of the following:

Shitmat
DJ 2girls1cup
Trencher
Partyshank
DJ Rainbow Ejaculation
Shit 'N Shine
Merzbow

And I'm there

Partyshank?

How about trying to book Black Dice as a headliner instead :)

It would be so sweet to get ex models too. Obviously Earth if we were talking all out.

As much as I like Partyshank

They'd be an odd choice for a noise festival...

DOWN I GO

Take A Worm For A Walk Week
Adebisi Shank

You could see if Veeedeee are going to come back over for a tour

http://www.myspace.com/eatveeedeee

Tom's English so it's not like he doesn't have a good reason to come over and say hi to people. We put 'em on last year.

...

hototogisu were feckin awesome earlier this year.
i think matthew bower's sunroof! project is pretty damn special also.
burning star core is a great shout, as is flower-corsano duo.
john wiese, birds of delay, vampire belt, air conditioning, mouthus, sachiko, jazzfinger, tight meat, polly shang kuan, zaimph and suzuki junzo would all be great aswell.

some one said KISS AKABUSI

They are really amazing live, its really fucked up spacey noise hip hop

also check out.

Gum Takes Tooth - Infants side project

N,N Minus

Cowman

search for them on myspace, they are all really great performers and all London based so should be cheap.

Oi did

Only heard them for the first time today, but they are rather good. Going to the Resonance FM thing that theyre playing at on Sun with another DiSer (Salsamander). Actually it was quite coincidental that you posted about your illustration today because I saw them on the KA Myspazz and thought they were really good!

just get

action beat involved.

Boyd Rice

lol

Try getting Pneu over

you could pay them in Euros and it'll be cheaper.

Also if you're asking Take A Worm..., call Rainydayfuckparade and Trencher too. And then i'll definitely come.

You've not noticed

the 15% drop in the £/Euro exchange rate over the last 6 months then?

I second

The Action beat call... and Hellhesten

Also try elapse-o (www.myspace.com/elapseo) - remind me of suicide etc - saw them play with HEALTH a couple weeks ago

Saw shit n shine a while back - they'd be an amazing headliner. When I saw them it seemed pointless for people to play after, nothing could match it!

When is this going to happen?

I would very much like to attend.

It will be one weekend, probably in August.

It's in the VERY early stages at the moment, so details are sketchy.

Thanks for all the suggestions boys and girls!

As I say, I've got hundreds of 'day' bands in mind, it's more the headliners I was interested in, and there have been some great suggestions!

I received loads of PMs after I started this thread from people wanting to play.

I will no doubt post about this again soon, and when I do PM me again then!

It's most likely i'll forget (not in a mean way!) so a friendly reminder in a few weeks wouldn't hurt. I can't of course guarantee that you will all be able to play. I've got a pretty solid idea of the kind of bands I want to play, so please don't be offended if I say no!

^^^ star :)

are part chimp or todd too melodic to headline then...?

...

I think you should get Flies are spies From hell to play at this festival. We would love to

Birchville Cat Motel?

You've got no chance tho... But I can wish...

or...

Nadja
Fear Falls Burning?

Extreme Noise Terror vs KLF would be a coup

... and Cassetteboy on the (tape)decks.

Rampant Rabbit

Got my best <A href="http://www.bondara.co.uk/vibrators/rabbit-vibrators/">Rampant Rabbit</A> from here :-) Happy days.
