I've been listening to them again recently and was wondering whether they ever did anything else similar to The Box (28min version) off Disc 2 of In Sides?
Most specifically I love the part with the creaking trees and the drop into a more sinister soundtrack
If anyone knows anything about this or anything else similar that would be great
actually
scrap the part that says about the trees, all of it is fantastic
Argh, I'm trying to remember what this sounds like!
All I can remember off Disc 2 of in-sides is the Bon-Jovi bit. :S
haha
I don't actually remember that, I never listen to the other tracks off disc 2 apart from The Box though
I've got a feeling the version I've got may not be the UK one either..i'll have to investigate
Disc 2???
I clearly don't have this version :o(, it's my favourite Orbital album as well, was this a special edition os sumfink?
*or
obviously
planet of the shapes
off brown obviously ;)
hmmm
personally I don't think this is anywhere near as good as that version of The Box though. Doesn't seem as good as any of In Sides really
^ Seconded.
there was a double cd version
get it. the 28 minute version of the box is ridiculously good.
Hmmm
I have the single of "The Box" which is about that length and 4 tracks, and was released in the UK. Is that the same as this bonus disc released elsewhere?
I love Orbital.
yeh
I think it is the same as the one on the EP, haven't heard that though so can't be sure, but that's what I've worked out
done some research
and found out its the 1st American version I've got. you should try and find the track, its amazing
I
Want. This. Now.
me too
'the box' is amazing. i never knew there was a 28 minute version though.
orbital
partially produced the new The Music LP... I'm listening to it now though, and it doesn't sound like orbital. It sounds like the Music but tougher... not sure if I like it!
They did a few other longish songs like The Box
on their later albums, but nothing that I can think of that's quite the same, or as good. But then just about everything they recorded is incredible, I could listen to Orbital for ever and ever. AND EVER!

Yay, Orbital rule.
A stupid rumour on virtual festivals saying that they might be playing the wickerman festival. I just deny that it is possible! I know they are brothers, but so were the Kinks.
By the way,
WTF on last.fm where the blue album is the most popular and Chime is at number 54 in most played tracks. Maybe i'm too old scholl. Brown is the best imho.
The Box EP was the first CD I ever bought
Amazing record. Even if it is just them trying to be The Future Sound of London.
They've never done anything else quite as atmospheric/sinister sounding, alas. If you're a fan of In Sides on the whole, Snivilisation and The Middle Of Nowhere are your next two points. Before then they were a lot more straight up dance/techno, and afterwards they're barely worth bothering with.
That 28 min version
is on slsk right now!
