I haven't been on the internet for about 3000 years now and was just wondering who the current bands everyone is dissing or digging at the moment.

Sure I could look through a few threads but I am very lazy.

THANKS!

Oh yeah emphasis on new bands please.

Right now?

Johnny Foreigner - amazing stuff.
Other than thet, mostly Mclusky.

^^^^

exactly this

pink noise

lots and lots of pink noise

all i'm listening to

is the Bon Iver album. incredible stuff.

Listening to that at the moment...

utterly spectacular. Could well be my favourite album of the year thus far.

currently listening to some of this as well

It's fairly decent, but isn't blowing me away, like it has done for lots of others.

I'm with ye

It's really nice in an atmospheric sense and has great dynamics, but sometimes I find the layered vocals a little jarring. Probably get used to that though...

It's good stuff

and it sounds like it's just been recorded right next to you, which is always really nice. The layered vocals do take a bit of getting used to, though.

joe - www.anewbandaday.com

A mix of

Husker Du, Test Icicles, Paleface, DMX, Supertramp, Dillenger Escape Plan, L-Vis 1990, Isley Bros, Rusko, Pulp and Les Incompetents.

Right now? TLC - Unpretty.

The Night Marchers

Down I Go
Bats
Adebisi Shank

Right now I'm listening to Devo.

Recently I've been listening to The Whiskers, who are really great. Also Jeff Lewis and the newest Nick Cave record.

^Nick Cave's new one is immense

Lie Down Here and Midnight Man rock like mothers.

The National- Boxer is unbelievable, got into them when I saw them do Fake Empire on Letterman

And random songs I'm obsessed with right now: California Dreamin' (coz of Chungking Express) Mamas and Papas
and If There Is Something by Roxy Music. That song is perfect.

It's the only one I've heard

But it's pretty great.

oooh, what do you think of

The Night Marchers?

Really impressed actually!

Not as instant as RFTC, but utterly infectious once they get hold of you.

Totally!

It's just great to hear Speedo singing again. Reminds me of a less angry sounding Hot Snakes, mixed with a bit of The Sultans. Some tracks kill for a bit of trumpet/sax action in the background though.

Indeed! Going to the 100 Club one.

You going to any?

Possibly the 6th June date....

would rather watch them at the 100 Club, but not being a London type there are logistical work related difficulties on the other nights!

currently:

deafening - From Monument To Masses

no age at the moment

in preparation for tomorrow night.

Right now...

Edith Frost - It's A Game, throughout the week I've mostly been listening to the latest installation of the alchemy index by thrice, idiot pilot's new one and test-icicles.

At the moment

Earth 2 is really doing it for me.

I got the Isobel Campbell / Mark Lanegan album this week and that is very much my cup of tea also.

JoFo

and The Scare

:D

A Place To Bury Strangers

Santogold
Lene Lovich (but she's not new)

Right now: Born Ruffians

in general: Tokyo Police Club, Modest Mouse, Glass Candy, Lykke Li, Times New Viking, Los Campesinos...

right now

boards of canada, but at the moment in general the new death cab for cutie, tired irie, fuck buttons, kyte, jeniferever.

Leviathan

the Verräter 2CD. Not many fast songs but still good. The kids love/dig it. He/the band is/are newish.

Jucifer

They rock. Or should be that be 'rawk'? Regardless, they are very loud, and the singer has scary painted on eyebrows. Win.

rival schools / samiam / the hold steady

pretty much on rotation...

chuck in a bit of the dismemberment plan as well.

x

Samiam and The Hold Steady so much right now!

I honestly can't decide whether I love Separation Sunday, Almost Killed Me or Boys and Girls in America the most.

I was playing Your Little Hoodrat Friend on my iPod as I walked through a deeply fucked up part of Bournemouth earlier. There were prostitutes beginning to congregate in the alleys and some junkies fighting in the street, I felt like the song was coming alive....sounds a bit mental, but I swear it was fucking magical!

As for Samiam, I will never be able to work out what my favourite album is.....I probably listen to Astray the most, but Soar, Clumsy and You are freaking me out all have a strong claim too.

kthxbai!

yesyes!

the hold steady are the happiest band in the world!

<3

the vines

winning days... no indie cool attached to that little disc but honesty is everything

Been listening constantly to Jens Lekman

No Age, Jofo and Broken Records

No Age especially - Nouns is amazing

at the mo...

i currently love the Neon Neon album, also Bengas 'Diary of an afro warrior' is very good. Also check out Jamie Woon, has some lovely tracks, + the burial remix of his cover of Spirits is very good.

Heads up

Dan Le Sac Vs. Scroobius Pip
''Angles''.

Pretty much

The Rubinoos best of on repeat. It contains more powerpop goodness than this man knows what to do with!

Also: the new Torche one, I Get Wet by Andrew WK and Very Emergency by The Promise Ring.

Duck!

First off, copious amounts of Why? (I haven't got bored of Alopecia yet); Boxcutter; Butcher/Müller/van der Schyff; Fuck Buttons; HEALTH; High Places; Jóhann Jóhannsson; Monade; Nils-Erik Sparf.

well, seeing as you asked

the volume on my computer seems to have gone a bit wrong
and it needs to be turned up all the time to have the music at a reasonable levels...

...and
when there is no music on
like now
there is a sort of buzzing
but with shifts
and stabs
sounds like it might make a nice ambient part for a song, with some fluttery beats and acousitc guitar
we could be almost a Tunng tune.

Only sometimes, I think I can hear voices, trapped, in the short wave, that is actually a kind of limbo, possibly for suicides or ex members of The Fall...

I dunno. It is early.

Where's my Subtle album.

I want it now

Ladies and Gentlemen

Mr Serge Gainsbourg

i'm listening to a band called The Outline
