So after I left here last night and shut down the BBC Radio player, I said 'I probably won't find out the score till tomorrow, but someone please get rid of McCullum, the irritating bastard. Hooray!

PREDICTIONS FOR TODAY
Big score from the Chef.

too early?

do we know what the weather predictions are for today?

its pissing down and dark here in birmingham but i dunno about Lords.

i think its meant to be dry

and overcast.

ah fantastiche

if it stays dry then my afternoon of sitting in front of sopcast watching this is on.

i shall be here

trying to make up new Jimmy Anderson songs and stubbornly refusing to do any work.

how about...

he's fast! It swings!
My gay friends fancy him!
Jimmy A!
Jimmy A!

or I could keep working on the 'chucking it down the legside blues'.

i still stand by

my epic Daddy Cool / Boney M reinterpretation.

I can see

Oram and/or Vettori pissing us off and getting the score up to 300 which will be a result for NZ after being put in. England innings? Dunno, is the pitch meant to flatten out? I'll predict the England batsmen will continue where they left off in NZ and fail to hit Oram off the square.

Pretty much this

I envisage an incredibly scratchy day for AJ Strauss.

Echo Adam's sentiments about McCullum. Piss off with your silly tattoos and rot in IPL hell. Leave poor Monty alone.

Also, where was Sidey yesterday and who was that man who'd borrowed his comedy wig?

good point about sidebum

you'd have thought the conditions would have been ideal for him yesterday

i'm sure

he'll be back on form today, he's not really had a bad day since he joined the squad, so i think he's earned the benefit of the doubt

I was also very happy

to see that it was Monty who got the bastard.

My real problems with McCullum are thus:

a) I wear entirely the same kit and use the same bat as him but have only hit one six in my life, and that was off the top edge
b) I remember a time when KP and Freddie could do a similar demolition job and I miss it

glad he's making a game of it, and of course now he's hauled the Kiwis towards competitiveness single handedly that niggling thought about our potential to capitulate at the crease en mass starts to bother you a bit....

Is Hayden playing yet?

No? Well that's a bit dull then. Seriously, I'm pretty sure this series will be a whitewash in England's favour. Maybe the Kiwis can sneak a draw in a test, but I doubt they can win one over here.

My 2006 season 6 a side team

was called 'Matthew Hayden's Face'
last years was Jimmy Anderson based. Beaten finalists twice :(

Oh yeah,

another day of 'work', consisting of TMS and this thread. Dare I venture to the rest of the board? I doubt it. It got a little chaotic yesterday. This thread will do for me though.

indeed

that thread was a shining beacon of hope amidst the infinite blackness of all the other threads about the mirri, vikram non news.

shhh

if they hear you they'll be in here posting random consonants and mud-slinging and i'll lose track of whats going on.

yeah, it's all a little yawn

gimmee aggerrs and the team over that any day. what's the weather like? we've got rain in norwich.

blowers

commentating on DiS scandle? that'd be fun. With Boycs laughing in the background.

Blowers is awful, Frindall is worse

They pretty much ruin TMS for me as the rest of them are outstanding.

what?!

booo. They're all pretty ace, i like the way if you're not concentrating entirely they all segue into each other without you noticing they've changed. CMJ & Aggers FTW.

That's true actually

I do enjoy that. And yeah, its all about CMJ and Aggers.

Blowers voice and caricatured personality just annoys me. Frindall is so pompous its untue 'Don't score like that, I made up thisother way and its better, and also I know everything and Twenty20 suxx'. Piss off you old bastard.*

*Thanks for editing Playfair!

did you hear the 'extendable pole' fun

on TMS yesterday? THey've got the clip on the guardian cricket site.

But a TMS commentry on DiS - that would be great...

'And here comes _vikram, he's up to the wicket, he bowls abuse, fended off neatly by emmi. And there is no post.

Meanwhile some pigeon (detectives) are fluttering around towards deep square leg...'

my highlight yesterday

as usual, was bird related.

(mid delivery)"AND THERE'S A GOOSE! A solitary goose, goosey goosey goose."

lolz

I liked the conversation

about cake, just before Tea.

and of course, the hour long conversation about the new dresscode.

Boycott:

"Just give her a slap lad. It won't do any harm. Look at me..."

that's all

for now

fine

everyones walking out now

quality..

gotta get a wicked early on..

otherwise these two are gonna put something together.

a 'wicked' early on?

Gangsta Cricket

Reprazent Da Googly Posse y'all.

Westwood for TMS

make it happen

.

"another goose"

golly. i had no idea people said golly. brilliant.

:)

These predictions will come back to haunt me, but whatever

I think we'll bowl them out for circa 310.

Strauss will get at least 50. Vaughan will get under 20. Bad light will bring an end to the day with us on about 85-2.

now Jacob has gone

they wont get near that.

What about Southee?

Last time he nearly got a 100. So he'll obviously do that every innings he ever plays from now on.

good point

but he'll have to score them quick with the batsmen he'll have in around him. If him and Vettori can loiter then maybe.

I think their bottom five

are at least as good as the top six that aren't McCullum. Even with Chris Martin.

New Zealand TMS Guest Commentators

who are they? i can't remember.

Adam Parore

and Ken Rutherford.

NEW BALL FTW

Sid is back.

I thought I was on for my 310 then

All hinging on this partnership.

he's bloody living on the edge!

HOWIZZZZZZZZAAAAT?

Now we get to play

'Cook or Strauss?'

You pick which one will go first - the one suffering his first real dip in form at this level or the one who's just ended a horrible run of form with a big hundred.

My money is on Cook. Does anyone fancy taking me on?

Strauss

my guts tell me that:

a)its time for a cup of tea
b)Chef will get a ton </kissofdeath>

It's on!

that said

they both like Lords don't they?

Anyone still interested?

or have you left the ground prematurely like everyone else...?
