I'm nervous but i can't say i'm looking forward to it that much. It seems like he's just treading water, so to speak, before he can get to Malignaggi, and then onto a couple of big paydays that'll set him up for life. I thought he was laughably out of his league against Mayweather, and talk of dogdy referring's a bit silly. I hope he won't take Lazcano for a mug. They've obviously hand-picked a less dangerous opponent, and Hatton does look in good shape, but i wonder how a first defeat affects a big fighter. I've never seen Lazcano fight, so i really can't call it, but i hope we see the boxing Hatton and not the brawler, because realistically to beat Mayweather, or another top fighter, that's the route he's going to have to go down. Apparently, a rematch with Floyd's looking on for next summer, providing they both come through their bouts. It's just a bit too much of an old pals act now for me to find it all that interesting. De La Hoya (trained by Mayweathers dad) is past it, but he'll fight Mayweather again, who'll win, and they'll both split a $100m pot again, then Hatton (now promoted by De La Hoya) will fight Mayweather, and they'll earn a shitload of money for a reasonably dull fight etc. I just get the impression that Hatton's got the big money bug, and you can't blame him, but i'd rather see him beat this guy and retire then get mullered by Mayweather again. Saying all that, providing he can beat Lozcano & Mallignagi (who's a very good fighter), it would open doors for big fights against Torres, maybe Cotto, and even domestically with Amir Kahn, who would've moved up in weight by then. I don't know where i'm really going with this, other than i hope he beats Lozcano, but i'm dubious.
NO
Hatton's a busted flush.
This fight means very little. Unless Hatton retires he's just going to be used for target practice by the next up and coming fighter, whoever that may be.
meh
the 15 quid price is staying in my pocket. not watching a fixed fight so hatton can have his big moment of glory.
if he'd won against Mayweather then this fight wouldn't be happening
I can't see myself paying for it either.
It's a mates house, or waiting 'til the Sunday morning to watch it on VHS for me.
Find a pub in Manc?
Must be a few places showing. Although they'll be rammed.
Could he fight Timothy Bradley?
Defeater of Junior Witter?
I've been thinking this, too.
They're the same weight, and Bradley looked great against Witter. I think Hatton's probably a class above him at the minute, but were he to lose against Lazcano or Mallignagi then it might be something he'd look at.
If he lost against either of them
And I were him I'd call it quits. He's made his dough and despite losing only 1 fight he's taken quite a few beatings.
I think I may have wrangled a ticket to this.
Boxing?
Fuck off.
^ mer to you, you big girl.
Boxing's the king of sports, and an art. When it's done well, which is rarely these days admittedly, it's beautiful to watch. See Gatti/Ward or Corrales/Castillo.

I was taught to hate it as a kid, but it really is a superb sport.
Once you appreciate the complexities of it...
And the history, it's marvellous. It's pretty horrible sometimes of course, I mean the objective is to knock out your opponent and possibly cause him severe physical harm in the process. But it's a great sport.
i'm getting stupidly nervous about this now.
i'm edging my bets.
the other guy's 125/1 to win in ANY round. 50p each round, yes please.
Hatton winning by miles on points
He did win pretty much every round (I only turned my radio on in Round 6) from what I hear, although Lazcano put up a really good fight and his left hook seemed to be causing Ricky problems, and he did take some punches. There was a moment in Round 10 when Hatton was struggling for a bit and he could have gone down. But he's won... presumably Malignaggi next, although he only won on split points against N'Dou tonight and was pretty poor clearly. People forget Hatton is only 29 and does have time on his side, and with Golden Boy Promotions behind him and with a giant fanbase he will continue to be a huge international presence.
I think he did what he needed to do tonight.
I was listening to the radio, too, and by the sounds of it Hatton won at least eleven rounds, but Lazcano got through with pretty much every punch he through and really rattled Hatton four or five times. There's no doubt in my mind that Mayweather would beat Hatton again, the gulf in boxing class is wide, Mayweather's the Rolls Royce to Hattons dependable Transit van, or the Barcelona to his Blackburn Rovers, but Hatton's done it all at his weight, the only thing left for him to do now realistically is to look after himself financially. These boxers aren't daft, they're all big pals and they all know that there's bucketloads of cash in this. If Hatton can beat Mallignagi, who sounded like he was lucky tonight, then he's potentially got two HUGE fights ahead of him, neither of which i think he'd win but combined (especially if talks of Hatton/Mayweather in Dublin next winter are true) would net him £30m+
