Not nearly as special as I thought
when I was a child. And I didn't think it was that special even then. I don't rate it. It's quite boring.
Some of it is
But some of it is MAGICAL
Ted & Ralph
(created by Linehan and Mathews) is the only bit that's any good really imo.
Ted & Ralph definitely
but the painter, Jazz Club, Swiss Toni, all brilliant.
First time - all alright
no replay value at all for me (possibly Jazz Club). I know that's partly the point, but... it's just shit after a while. And a piece of piss to make.
Erm...I tend not to rewatch stuff that much
(not for a while at least). I just watch new stuff instead.
I meant the characters, though
You've seen one, you've seen them all (except for the ones where the joke is that the joke's coming - also shit).
Yeah, but it's how you tell 'em
Like all jokes
And at that point it becomes entirely subjective
ted and ralph's growing romance
rowley birkin (QC)
some others
It was the best sketch show of the 90's
Which was nice
Completely.
It's hilarious. I've got two series on video.
The farmer and the gardener was so heart achingly funny.
Unlucky Alf was the best
but most of them were excellent.
Bob Fleming
13th Duke of Wybourne
Carl Hooper
It's all TV gold. I think i spend about three years of my teenage life running around and shouting 'Cheesy Peas' at people.
I bet you were popular
DO YOU LIKE CHEESE?
DO YOU LIKE PEAS?
:D
a pois de fromage
the new fragrance for men
The spoof of the singing, ringing
tree (or whatever the fuck its called) is one of the most remarkable things I've ever seen on tv.
Not quite as remarkable as this though:

swiss toni!
very much so...
ive had my friend's dvd set for ages now. there are some forgetful bits, on the whole its amazing.
comedy has progressed significantly since then, but if you look at the catchphrase-based shit of catherine tate and little britain, the fast show is still vastly superior on the whole
they was alot more to it and the source of alot of the gags weren't based around the catchphrases - what i'm trying to say is there was much more to it...and the acting was better.
Put your knickers on love and make us a cup of tea
I never get bored of fast showisms...
^ funny
But my favourite character was Dave Angel, Eco-Warrior.
"C'mon babes, let's go see the colonel"
"Wallop....WALLOP!"
In a post-little britain
world, it's nice to look back and remember that catchphrase-based sketch comedy can be funny, if done right.

OT
sort of...the Simon Day spin-off 'Grass' was an excellent series. Clever writing and genuinely touching at times. Deserved more attention and anotehr series. If it was scheduled to run on BBC3 now, given it's increased viewership, I reckon it would be a cult hit. Seek it out if you like The Fast Show. I miss The Fast Show, but they really couldn't have stretched it any further.
Little britain WAS funny, for the first series and a bit.
It's only not funny now because so many people used "knowing the catchphrases from little britain" as a substitute for a sense of humour, and because they've done it to death.
As the fast show showed, if you're doing a sketch show it starts to get old even by the third series.
i always thought it
was painfully average. Just not that many laughs really. To somehow set it apart from little britain is just wistful nostalgia.
hmm
i rewatched an episode recently and it was pretty average. when i was 12/13 i found it uber hilarious of course.
Dave Angel
Height of TV Comedy.
it's funny when you are quoting sketches from it
down the pub with your mates. actually watching an episode is a bit of a laughter free zone these days, though. same goes for programmes like big train or brass eye.
In a similiar vein
Goodness gracious me was also really funny. It was on BBC4 last night.
Goodness gracious me was my favourite comedy as a kid.
I bought series 2 on dvd just recently and i was really disapointed cos its nothing like as good as i remembered it as being. For every hilarious sketch theres easily about 4 duds. And in hindsight, the songs really did suck. :(
John Actor is
MONKFISH M.D.!!!
John Actor is
PRIME MONKFISH!!!
John Actor in
ALL MONKFISH GREAT AND SMALL!!!
Not sure about hindsight,
i thought it was pretty much comedy gold at the time. Plenty of misses i suppose, but it moved so quickly, another hit would soon come along.
