i'm in gothic point. i'm sure it wasn't too debauched last year, but then i only spent about ten hours there in total. i'm looking forward to seeing what all the meals are called this time .... portishead pizza? public enemy hotdogs? animal collective mixed grill?
its just off Las Ramblas. Its one of these overloaded places that sleeps 20 people in a room. I'm a bit worried though, I've heard some horror stories about 5 on 1 random humpings. Apparently this is what constitutes fun for some people.
staying at Sea Point hostel. It's RIGHT next to the beach. Couple of miles from the Festival.
Haven't packed or printed out any info.
Few questions:
How far are the stages from each other?
Is it easy to navigate?
How many Brits (rough %)?
Will you say hi to me (my name's Robin) if you see me walkin around on my lonesome?
I'm so unprepared. I take it the drinks/food prices are going to be predictably rapey? How have they been in previous years for searches? I've got a hip flask that I'm considering hiding in my gusset.
I smuggled in a liter of vodka by pouring it into 3 or 4 small water bottles, which were then inserted into the back trouser pockets, which were covered by a jumper worn around the waist. Just make sure they're not doing pat downs (they weren't last year).
I don't think they really care, as long as you're not brazenly waving bottles around on your way in.
The only one for me is Voxtrot v Caribou, but I guess I'll just see how I feel on the day. The massive one is Portishead v Boris, but this will be eridcated if I can get tickets for the Saturday Portishead gig.
i look forward
to the open sewer smell by the main stage once again
The Death Breeze.
Like ATP's hotdogs but eleven times worse.
I annoyed everyone
with my beaming face when I got back last year. Apparently my hostel is one of the most debauched in Barcelona. I am a little bit worried/excited.
what hostel is that?

hmmm i was hoping
not to spend much...may has been expensive. oh well.
Eat at the food court
across the road in the huge shopping centre before you go in. Much better value for money (and much better food - death by tapas).
just have a huge lunch beforehand
at 3pm, spanish style. i didn't really need to eat at the site after that.
3 courses plus beer for €11? yes please.
haha
i forgot those walking beer kegs - funny sights.

They're really close, longest walk is about 5 minutes
Very easy
First time I went it was about 5%, last year was about 15%

I didn't think the food
was that expensive last year was it? I remember living on both 'White Stipes' and 'Wilco' sandwiches which were 3 euros a pop.
These posts make me happy.
Thanks! Whisky down my gooch it is, then.
I ate those sandwiches.
Yum.
Please let them sell

They start giving them out
at 4pm on the day of the performance at the info booth. I expect nobody will see holly golightly, a they'll all be queueing for Portishead tix.
