Even checking at just after midnight on Saturday, the day that followed bore almost no relation to their forecast. This happens far too often.

This is always the case though, isn't it?
I can't remember the exact figure (which is just as well, because it probably isn't accurate anyway) but forecasts are only supposed to have a 1/3 chance of accuracy anyway.
Just roll some dice instead.
I seem to remember there being more accuracy than this.
Certainly I'd hope they can get it right less than 12 hours in the future.
i sympathise
i checked the weather forecast for saturday-just-gone on at least five different occasions - the weather each time was different to before, and the weather on saturday was much better than predicted. as a result i have sunburn on my nose and cheeks.
Do you think if you developed skin cancer
or pneumonia as a result of exposure to weather conditions opposite to those a forecaster predicted, you could sue and get lots of money?
i'm not sure.
i'm more thinking of those "customer services" cartoons in Modern Toss:
"This weather report I read, gave me skin cancer. I'd like to know where I stand"
yeah there is
it's fun looking at how different the forecasts are for different areas under the same met office
checking weather forecasts at midnight on saturday?
rock n roll!
In-deed!
Look out the window instead?
hmm
weather forecasting in "not precise science" shocker?
it should be more precise
it spends a lot of money, uses a lot of technology and is a science.
normally i don't seem to have a problem with it being wrong though, albeit i don't check it on the hour

How
did you not pick up on the fact that BRETT ANDERSON works for them...guess that solo album didnt sell...
i have noticed this too
sometimes i get into my office at 8.45 and the forcast will show a big happy sun when its shitting it down outside, and then if you check at 9.05 its been corrected. solution: cut outt he middleman and go to the met office's site
