  • next year i predict:

    far less festivals.

    • indeed

at least it sold more than 63 tickets. and didnt feature raging speedhorn

    • fo' sure

People thought it was some big expanding market that would just go on forever with the same 5 bands playing everywhere continuously

    • Looking at the line-up, it wasn't great

which is probably a direct result of the market being saturated.

Hopefully it means fewer, better festivals though. I'm also hoping for a drop in demand (this seems to be happening this year) which won't mean these sell out straight away...

      • It looks decent for the price

even with The Whip headlining one day. The Whip! Headlining a festival!

The cojones of people who put on festivals is astounding this year. Even if you put aside those lost to the weather it was clear it was at cracking point at that level. So here for '08 come Hop On The Farm, Boosh Festival, Camp Bestival, Zoo Thousand, Lounge On The Farm...

        • Lounge On The Farm

Three years old and counting big boy ;o)

        • I can see Zoo Thousand working...........

pretty decent line-up and LOTS of dance so caters to a wide demographic, plus that USP is pretty awesome.

I do wonder about Camp Bestival, it's just down the road from me, but I don't really see what it offers that you wouldn't get at Bestival proper.

    • yeah there are far too many ATPs this year!

  • Oh balls :(

    Was looking forward to that

  • there are far too many festivals anyway

this year is a fucking joke!

    • aye

it doesn't help with the weather stuff on the news all going on about floods and stuff either.

  • Really not surprising

Festivals used to be special events, now they happen every other week.

  • :(

I'd heard Blissfields was actually a really nice one as well, rather than one of the opportunistic mega-field-gigs that seem to have cropped up this year.

    • I just cant work out

How a festival headlined by the Wonderstuff could not sell out.

      Oh, hang on.

    • it probably was/is

but the line up wasn't inspiring enough for people to part with their cash.

The Wonder Stuff were one of the headliners, they belong to the 90s and should stay there!

      • Where else?

I had tickets. Not sure when I'm going to get refunded. Could do the cash to find something else. Where do you think? Lounge on the farm? Hop on the farm looks like a gimmic- its owned by Vince Power so don't believe all that non-corporate stuff. Zoo Thousand's got a good line up. Saw something called Standon in the Guardian that looked good- SFA playing and Mystery Jets.

        • offset

150 bands for £35 including Wire, Young Knives, Chrome Hoof, Trademark, Glam Chops, O'Children etc. Loads more to be announced as well.

Used to be TMF which was always good

  • Its not that there's too many festivals at all

Its because last year it cost £30, this year it cost £60. It was an amazing community event that all my friends from back 'home' used to go to. But they doubled the ticket price, and look what happened. Shows why local festivals need to respect their communities.

    • It's also moved location

and had to increase capacity as a result.

      • So the capacity increased

AND the ticket price went up? Perhaps THAT'S why people weren't buying tickets.
