Just trying to think of ones i haven't yet seen - of which i'm sure there are huge amounts that i've never heard of.
The ones i have seen are:-
Control
24hr party people
velvet goldmine
still crazy
so far that's all i can think of that i've seen.
Any recommendations?
Spinal Tap
Didn't we have this thread last week?
This is Spinal Tap.
Almost Famous.
Dig.
All three are essential viewing...
How could i forget Spinal Tap
I've seen it. cheers.
This thread may have been up last week although was not posted by moi.
I quite liked
Rock Star, which is on TV this week I think, though the film version of Josie and the Pussycats was just as good-
Really though, Metallica's Some Kind of Monster and Standing In The Shadows of Motown are great
EMPIRE RECORDS!!!
and the one from Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues that's docudrama (is it Warming By The Devil's Fire?)
Switch off
your telly and read The Dirt, the Motley Crue book.
High Fidelity
yeah its got a romance story but there's enough music geekery in this film to rival these here boards
Another vote for
Josie and The Pussycats.
Still Crazy
Lol.
Yeah I also found this film amusing...
if a little cheesy at the end.
soundtrack to this film
= actually very good
my vote goes for david bowie in labyrinth.
benu vista social club
movie thing.
Britpop doc thing
Live Forever is really good
Stoned
about early Rolling Stones.
Martin Scorsese's:
No Direction Home - fucking brilliant
DA Pennebaker's - Don't look back - fucking excellent.
the daniel johnston doc
fade to black, the jay-z one
scratch, the hip-hop one
That Thing You Do!
(i'm serious)
two good ones are:
america hardcore
lightning bolt: power of salad
has anyone
seen the converge dvd?
The Rutles
Also, for an insight into how the music industry can turn you into a complete fucking narcissist, The Great Rock & Roll Swindle.
ramones end of the century
metallica some kind of monster
fugazi instrument
american hardcore
was good too
The Burn to Shine DVDs
This may seem unbelievable ...
...but Slade in Flame is a terrific little movie. As are the two David Essex films That'll be The Day and Stardust.
^^^ spot on
Dig!
Probably my favourite alongside End of the Century (Ramones)
The Decline of Western Civilisation
1991: The Year Punk Broke
^^^^
anyone know where I can get this on DVD? or even vhs if I mut, was looking everywhere for it the other day.
which of the 2?
the year punk broke VHS is always on ebay, usually goes for under a tenner.
only seen the Decline on the internet.
Nice one
it was decline I was after. I don't think you can get part 2 either. I also found out during my search there was a part 3 that was never commercially released about street punks in LA. Anyone ever seen this?
i think all of them
are on youtube to be honest, or it at least it looked that way when i was looking for the 1st one
