Norma Jean

Particularly the first album "Bless the Martyr Kiss The Child"

got norma jean :)

i think i prefer o god the aftermath to bless the martyr

I found it pretty hard to choose between

the two but BTMKTC has "Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, but Something is Going to Happen" which is EPIC :-), what did you make of Redeemer?

i loved it

all their albums are great.have you seen any of the studio videos for the new album?

The Anti Mother?

not yet are they on youtube? I heard that they're planning on having chino moreno as a guest on that album very interested to hear how that goes down.

I liked redeemer as well it was pretty different from the first two (most I guess due to the change in vocalists) but pretty cool.

yeah theyre on youtube

its only snippets of the songs but it sounds ace (always going to be ace really though isnt it!)

Cheers!

sounds pretty cool

O God the Aftermath

& Redeemer have the same vocalist.

true

my mistake, I though josh scogin still featured on oh god the aftermath but it seems like he left after BTMKTC.

The first Burnt By The Sun EP

is really really good. It's furious! The album after that was a bit disappointing in comparison.

^^ that

And also if you havent already, BOTCH!

i ordered botch on wednesday :D

we are the romans yes?

.

Ooooo yes!

And once you've heard that you might want to purchase everything else they did!

you might like

http://fallofefrafa.com/music.html

they're not really that much like converge but i think you'd be able to appreciate what they do

you know about the kind of band

Cave-In used to be, right?

Caleb has made an album like this
http://www.myspace.com/zozobra505

that sounds AMAZING

ive been listening to trepanning on repeat for the past few days and juggernaut as well

TORTUGA

they are a lot like converge

seen them in norwich a few times.

Hmm

No.

Sure!

They aren't anything like Converge.

Im pretty sure you could say they are a similar sort of thing

and theyve clearly been influenced by converge

they're pretty much

the most boring band ever though.

Throats are for winners

throats are better yeah

tortuga arent bad though

I find them really dull

live and on record, and no there isn't much of a link between them and converge.

Throats do everything so much better than Tortuga, its almost frustrating.

I just wish the good members of NCF would finally put something out, they're always saying they're going to do a band and then it never happens

id definately recommend

The Chariot - which is norma jeans first singers band.. they have some quality tunes.. and also Intonaut.. really really good.

i have the chariot album called fiancee is it?

is that their only album?

thats their second

their first is 'everything is alive, everything is breathing nothing is dead..something something something (cant remember the rest) i think i prefer that to fiancee, though i know it much better to be fair

Bravo Fucking Bravo

More hardcore I guess.

Erm
The Number 12 Looks Like You maybe?

Oh and

Fear Before The March Of Flames

Number 12 Looks Like You are awesome

been listening to the new album lots lately.

mongrel?

that albums ace

Put On Your Rosy Red Glasses

is where it's at. Fucking brutal album!

Beecher

UK band too. Sorely missed.

Seconded.

'This Elegy, His Autopsy' is a beast of an album.
Pig Destroyer should be checked out without delay - bit more of a straight grind influence, but their sense of dynamics is second to none.

also, I recommend Cursed.

they're a bit more doomy. But still furious.

Genghis Tron

different, but worth a try.

Oops.

sorry.

Genghis Tron seconded

They're basically Myspace-Drummachine-Grind

I Hate Sally

like Converge fronted by a female Jacob Bannon.

^^^^

is a hideous name

erm Orchid, Throats, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Botch, Cephalic Carnage, CombatWoundedVeteran

but Cephalic Carnage is a great name!

Yeah, anyway - don't judge a book by it's cover and all - check them out.

i have

i hated :D

thanks for the contributions!

il check them out!

throats are playing

at the adelphi with maths soon! maths are like saetia (ish) and therefore fucking awesome

maths suck

hahah

you suck

oh wait

fuck

Coupld be really obvious

but check out Envy. From Here To Eternity is amazing.

Also get onto Circle Takes the Square, Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Psyopus.

*could

duh.

could call

with Circle Takes The Square, also The Abominable Iron Sloth are very worth hearing

Nothing sounds quite like Jane Doe

but some bands have come close. Try Curl Up and Die, The Power and the Glory, Eden Maine, Beecher, Harlots.

Thinking about it loads of bands have tried to copy that record. NBone have succeeded.

Second Eden Maine

To You The First Star is an absolute blinder of an album. I don't know why, but the vocals always get me they're so raw and passionate, even though he's not saying much. They have this brilliant chaos going to, and some great ambiance.
So yeah...check 'em out.

Also: Coalesce, Transistor Transistor, and Cursed, worth checking out. And Until Your Heart Stops by Cave In.

*too

Someone who hasn't been mentioned

Chariots (not The Chariot)

They were a young UK band, about a couple of years ago, as far as Im aware they did 1 ep/mix tape thing, an album and a mini album. All of which were incredible.

Try and get their album 'Daybreak' from somewhere if you can, i remember reading a RockSound review of it which said something like:

"The album Converge wish they'd made instead of No Heroes"

AWESOME AWESOME BAND!

DIS Review of mini album here:
http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/1802954

Which also throws up the names of Ochid and La Quiete - both definitely worth listening to.

*EDIT

Not No Heroes, You Fail Me!

but you fail me

is their best album?

I bought the mini album

awhile ago awesome stuff shame they broke up. Rinoa featuring members of chariots are pretty cool though.

http://www.myspace.com/rinoauk

^^^

Daybreak is incredible - although a very VERY difficult listen due to its sheer intensity and heaviness. Gutted I never saw Chariots live before they split.

I saw them a few times

Saw them in Wales with the Guillaume Seam, who were also a class band, similarish vein. Awesome!

Saw them in Leeds with Beecher, again class band. Even better!

Saw them in Manchester with ... i forget. But even better still.

Their live performances were insane, Emile (singer) was off his nut!

Er...

In a different spin but all the intensity of Converge - The Locust or Daughters! even Burnt By The Sun

Canada Songs

Is one of my favourite albums!

Canada Songs is tremendous^

But i listen to Hell Songs more, I listen the vocals on Daughters spelt wrong, its like a drunkard singing backwards.

:D

That's how I described it in a review, more or less.

i LOVE daughters

hell songs scares the shit out of me (in a good way)

Dude - better off listening to John Doe... by Testament

JOHN DOE...A MAN HAUNTED BY HIS PAST
JOHN DOE...HIS SOUL WILL NEVER REST

the locust

i never got them, really don't like them
much prefer Holy Molar

Melt-Banana are worth checking out even if fuck all like Converge

Coalesce?

Breather Resist?

This album is great

I thought I'd revive the thread just to say that.
