anyway, i've defended Germany all along but that was appalling. they scored six goals in their two knockout rounds, so they do have skill going forward with Schweinsteiger, Ballack and Podolski - but that was missing completely today. Schweiny couldn't get one decent delivery in the box and Ballack was too busy covering Met-RioFerdinand-selder's meanders up the pitch. the defence - well everything's been said about that. utterly useless. Jansen came on for Lahm which is like changing into leather from cotton as an atomic bomb goes off in your face.
the commentary was as ever pretty bad. all commentators have to do is say names, and they can't even pronounce them even nearly right. Motson, Germany have got to two finals and a semi-final since '96 - if that's struggling than England are doomed.
well-deserved by Spain though. all good coming forward, relatively solid at the back (it's been a bad tournament for defences all told).
second this. Acknowledges that Germany were very poor tonight but doesn't go in for the idiotic BBC pundits view that suddenly Germany have been rubbish the whole tournament etc.
Did Germany just pick the nine tallest outfield players and Michael Ballack, and assemble a team from there? You may as well have a 7 foot telegraph pole with wheels as Metzelder.
it's just an example of trying to build an physically imposing back line, but forgetting that marking, pace and spacial awareness are pretty important as well.
Has anyone mentioned Ronaldo yet?
Ronaldo
there
Thanks
Phillip Lahm
really should play anywhere but defence.
Germany's defence is just too suspect for me to think they can come back.
what a goal
superb
I like to think that
Schweinsteiger means 'pig-sticker'. I think this everytime he has the ball.
I thought Ballack was out there
bah
it does mean..
pig mounter. which is sort of better.
I bet this leads to a goal
just you wait
well ok, maybe not THIS game
but just you wait.
Ballack booked
ballsack*
half time
SECOND HALF!
YAS
OUCH
:D
That probably hurt.
almost
headbutt?
that was ridiculous. it was more like podolski eye-socketed silva.
:D
I like this match
according to the stats that just came up.
Spain have had one shot on target.
WRONG!
i don't want germany to win
that's all i'm saying
lehmann giving the ref an earful
:D
I'm shitting it
Come on Spain
what did torres get cautioned for?
you leave that iberian adonis alone you whistling twat!
:D
ZOMG
well that was shite
metzelder and mertesacker
are so shit.
Yeah
I can't deal with defences this dodgy, it's too painful to watch
spain will never get a better chance.
they'll kick themselves if they lose. maybe injure themselves like Andy Murray.
good tactical move
i'd probably pull fernando torres off now too
Arrghh!
What a miss.
That wouldve ended it for Germany.
gutted.....
should have been 2.
ZOMG!
oooOOOOooo
he'll miss.
missed
what did i tell ya.
Nasty foul
by the Germans
And another
they're getting desperate
THREE EXTRA MINUTES
HAHAHA
The slow mo where he slaps his head is classic
germany will equalise
QUIET YOU
sorry
i think i'm wrong though
Final few kicks
SHITTING IT
WOOT!
Spain did it.
In your face Germany!
woop!
they deserved it.
*was wrong*
i'm so pleased that Spain won
so pleased
:D
a triumph for football.
that german team was rubbish.
hansen agrees with me.
YES!
and shearer!
i should be a bloody pundit.
YAY!
I'm glad Spain won
I'm now waiting for the prof-kitsch thread.
deserved
totally deserved
Good stuff
Right, same time in 2012?
"a victory for football"
don't think
aragones enjoyed that celebration much!!
the only annoying thing about that final
was that Germany weren't good enough to give Spain a decent match.
I new Spain would bottle it
*knew, godammit, knew
germany was FUCKING shocking.
all credit to spain though. they were hands down the better team tonight.
España: campeones de Europa.
p.s. anyone else feel bad for ballack. the bridesmaid yet again.
nope!
:D
How come
the commentary was so much better this match, were they reading DiS for tips?
Best team won.
It's been a really good tournament, especially compared to the incredibly dull last world cup. 1-0 doesn't really reflect how much better Spain were.
i was most impressed by Spain playing four forwards:
Guiza, Geezer, Guida and Guitsa.

Er

don't need the wheels to be honest.
