It's been a really good tournament, especially compared to the incredibly dull last world cup. 1-0 doesn't really reflect how much better Spain were.

anyway, i've defended Germany all along but that was appalling. they scored six goals in their two knockout rounds, so they do have skill going forward with Schweinsteiger, Ballack and Podolski - but that was missing completely today. Schweiny couldn't get one decent delivery in the box and Ballack was too busy covering Met-RioFerdinand-selder's meanders up the pitch. the defence - well everything's been said about that. utterly useless. Jansen came on for Lahm which is like changing into leather from cotton as an atomic bomb goes off in your face.

the commentary was as ever pretty bad. all commentators have to do is say names, and they can't even pronounce them even nearly right. Motson, Germany have got to two finals and a semi-final since '96 - if that's struggling than England are doomed.

well-deserved by Spain though. all good coming forward, relatively solid at the back (it's been a bad tournament for defences all told).
