Going to cancel for good?

Whats the betting? Odds firmly against them I would say...

What we thinking?

  • According to the organisers everything's fine

I know Bjork can be quite demanding so perhaps they just couldn't supply what she wanted. I imagine ticket sales have been very good (on the basis of Bjork playing) so I don't reckon they'll cancel. Who knows?

  • My friend

has been told he can't get a refund which is pretty outrageous really - it's not like it's an act lower down the bill, it's bloody Bjork!

  • I've just spoken to Renaissance

The lady I spoke to on the phone was really nice and helpful, but she wasn't able to go into detail regarding Bjork's cancellation for 'legal reasons'. Personally I'd like to know why- if this is Bjork being awkward then I wouldn't expect a refund, but if it's a fault of the organisers then they should at least offer some of the money back. They also said that you're buying a ticket for the whole event and not one artist, which I personally think is a bit of a cop out, particularly when you're talking about an artistic as prolific as Bjork.

    • and particularly when they've led

with 'BJORK'S ONLY BRITISH SUMMER FESTIVAL APPEARANCE' 'EXCLUSIVE BJORK' and then had Bjork in massive font on the website. The fact that so many people will want refunds shows how much of a deal it is. Gutting though.

  • Thanks fuck I didn't get tickets for my girlfriends birthday

Amazed by their stance on refunds, but not surprised...nearly everyone will want their money back now so they're obviously clinging on to what small hopes they have of keeping the festival alive.

Have they mentioned anything about a replacement?

    • No replacement

The festival certainly appears to lack a decent headliner. Last year was Underworld and Hot Chip, this year is Pendulum. Woop.

    • Nearly everyone will want refunds?

Erm... no. You fail to realise that this has some of the best DJs in the world playing, and while i'll admit that I'm very very disappointed she's not playing, Renaissance is of course predominantly in the line of house music hence i would expect many many house music fans who won't neccessarily have been drawn in by her name.

This isn't to say I don't think they'll cancel it. Boo.

  • Refunds for all!

Following Bjorks announcement that she will not be appearing at Wild in the Country there has been some confusion over our position regarding refunds. Whilst our terms and conditions state that the ticket is purchased for the event, and not for any specific artiste, we will be accepting refund requests that must be received no later than 6pm on Friday 4th July 2008. These must be in writing along with a valid unused ticket (stub attached), sent to the place of purchase. For tickets purchased direct from Wild in the Country please address to:

    Stately Events Ltd
    52a High Pavement
    The Lace Market
    Nottingham
    NG1 1HW

Whilst we are obviously disappointed that Bjork is not appearing, we are incredibly excited about this years Wild in the Country and feel that we have delivered one of the best festival line-ups of the summer. The festival site is now complete and looks stunning, with Funktion One sound throughout and our inimitable take on décor and production

    • I went to this last year

when there wasn't a headliner anyway near the status of Bjork, and I still had a great time

The fact that I saw her a couple of months ago cushions the blow a bit, but I won't be getting a refund

    • hmm

"we will be accepting refund requests that must be received no later than 6pm on Friday 4th July 2008".

Which gives you all of, oh, tomorrow to do it. Ace, good luck people seeking refunds.

      • mine went

in the post this morning recorded delivery, come on royal mail... :)

      • Aye

the cynic in me thinks they could just say "we didn't get it in time" and not issue a refund. I don't see why it has to be done before the festival if you have to send back your ticket.

  • stop whinging!

    there's a whole area dedicated to M_nus!! ;-)

    • ^ this

m_nus tent at dour gonna be more exicting though

      • They're legally obliged,

to give a refund. The law clearly states they must make all REASONABLE attempts to offer a refund. Obvioulsy 2 days notice is NOT reasonable.

They are simply doing this to scare people into thinking they won't post it in time so they might as well keep the ticket. If anyone challenged this legally Renaissance would be fucked.

This whole affair has shown Renaissance in a VERY bad light. Dodgy old skool club promoters.

  • cancelled

    check the website

    • FFS

Wild in the Country festival cancelled Stately Events Ltd is extremely disappointed to announce the cancellation of the Wild in the Country festival at Knebworth Park on Saturday 5th July. This is a very sad conclusion to our passionate efforts to develop an interesting and credible addition to the UK festival market. Unfortunately, Wild in the Country has become the latest in a series of festivals that have suffered from a unique and well-documented set of market forces this summer.

      • yet

you can still buy tickets :D

      • Some

clearly more unique to Wild In The Country than others.

      • Oh joy.

I was JUST starting to get excited about it again following the rumour mill nightmare. Throughly pissed off.

  • FOR FU**S SAKE!!!!

    stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid

    • I have to say

I do feel sorry for the organisers... I think this year is going to be tough for a hell of a lot of Events.. I hope everyone gets refunded..I guess its just Field Day left for me now, seems like the only one left, fingers crossed anyway!
