I wish I wasn't scared of swimming

I'm really really scared of deep water, and it's been so long since I've been swimming and I was so rubbish anyway that I think i've probably forgotten how to do it

I feel like I'm missing out on massive fun!

  • yeah

there might be sharks or perverted men watching you from the deep end.

  • ...

and my super cool pin-up bikini :P

  • just swim in the kiddies pool!

    what could possibly go wrong?

  • i'm also scared of deep water

and subsequently swimming. also getting water in my eyes, nose and ears.

    • yay not just me

i doubt i even can anymore because i never got very good because i was scared of deep water and now i avoid it at all costs

      • same

they taught me to swim in year six but i was still shit and scared. my fear comes from falling in a canal when i was three years old, i think. why are you scared of deep water?

        • i was just an oversensitive kid

and found the noise, and artificial light and chlorine, and late nights and being freezing cold of swimming lessons really really really horrifically upsetting.

  • I think

    running > swimming.

    • insane

      • ^

        running is shit.

        • and water is wet

          wet is good

        • Running gives you

an endorphin high! I don't like forms of exercise that are too slow and sedate... yes I know swimming needn't be slow if you are actually good at it, but I'm rubbish.

Basically I get strangely high off running but not swimming, that just makes me a bit achey everywhere.

          • just take drugs

it requires no effort and you'll feel great.

            • nah

I don't enjoy the face munching aesthetic these days. About once a year is a good frquency for drug taking.

              • i was joking, damn you with your serious response.

i've cut down recently and now plan on very occasional dabbles only.

          • i love getting high off running

            :D:D:D

  • Don't worry

    Public swimming pools are ick.

  • There's no such thing as a fear of swimming.

Only a fear of drowing. But humans tend to float, so I reckon you'll be ok.
