They seem like a bunch of talentless, posturing pre-adolescents. I am staggered that they are in any way adored.
That said - if you like them good luck to you. Just don't ask to borrow my lawnmower - you'd clearly not clean all the clippings out properly.
MEGALOLZ
for either scenario
a) You're being serious
b) You're not
you have misunderstood....
... and hence you lose at cool.
but...
... i'm with you on the clippings thing. people dont respect mowers enough.
come on - we've been over this!
You cannot judge a band on a shitty youtube clip. Dreadful sound quality plus song taken out of context, not a good plan.
Listen to an album properly on decent speakers / headphones and then form a judgement.
LBC assures me i'd like them
and whilst i've never heard a full song i've only seen clips of them playing shouty metal music with an aggresive cunt singer who punches people, so I'm not sure i would. I'm willing to give anything a chance.
Slayer are wayyyyyy better
I nearly got killed at a Slayer gig
When I drunkenly proclaimed "They've only got 1 riff and just recycle it in every song!"
Thought I was going to get mobbed. Although clearly I was wrong, they were still pretty boring to be brutally honest!
I think you'd admire the technicality
They're like the metal version of Don Cab. With an intensity similar to Converge.
I think Botch are my favourite of that triumvirate though.
Converge> Dillinger> Botch
marry me :D
of course :D
Botch>Converge>Dillinger
This man knows his onions
Really?
Have you heard anything Botch recorded before 'We Are The Romans'?
Converge >. Dillinger > Botch
I'm not sure why these bands are always compared mind.
Converge have it all - creativity, back catalogue, distinctive talents within the band.
Dillinger created pretty much a new way of playing guitar in modern metal. 2 classic releases (CI and Irony is a Dead Scene). The heavy moments in Ire Works do sound pretty tired though.
Botch are decent. We Are The Romans is a solid record, but overall I think early Cave In/Coalesce etc were just as good if not better.
If it's silly comparisons we're dealing with, then Minus The Bear are better than Botch anyway :P
^this
as much as i hate agreeing with you.
dont like them much
well, didnt last time i gave them a chance. will have another go now
i'm listening to calculating infinity now
and its better than i remember, and i get more out of it, but it still sounds like shit compared to converge. no passion.
now they are
but the new album is an improvement on the second one..which was terrible
Calculating Infinity
is the only thing worth listening to by this band. People who say "Oh, but they've progressed so much since then!" don't know what they are talking about and are probably Tool fans.
whats wrong with tool?!?
I'd rahter listen to
Mike Flowers spank Mick Hucknall's pink pancakes with Chris Martin's face.
yeah, that must be it.
PROGRESS NO WAY!
Tristannnnnnnnnn you are
wronnnnnnnnng. Just plain wrong.
There other records are different to Calculating Infitinity, yes, but that doesn't make them bad.
When they take elements of free jazz and mix it with metal(core) in CI they are geniuses; when they take elements of pop and do exactly the same thing they get disowned by people whose idea of fun is scoring hardcore points off each other.
Ire Works FTW.
i've never really listened to them
so can't comment, is that near enough to dislike?
Couldn't get into it last time i tried
I didn't like the vocals.
However, since then I've gotten into stuff like the Locust, Spazz, Refused, Converge etc, so I expect it'll go down better.
theyre a lot of things but dull is not one
I'm not really keen on them
I do like a lot of similar stuff but not them in particular. I've seen them as well - go me
check you out!
I tried, and it's not awful
But if I want to destroy my hearing there are other methods.
For example: Drop The Lime live @ Fabric, which I'm listening to currently. Ouch.
If it helps...
I wasn't really a fan of Calculating Infinity either but I found both Miss Machine and Ire Works are quite enjoyable particularly the more ambient/progressive tracks.
43% Burnt Out
considering ive seen dillinger most times since 1999 in the UK, and been a big fan of bands like Cave In, Coalesce, Botch etc...
I do find DEP now a bit watered down, less progressive and less dangerous. I really thought the last album was a big let down.
time to put the beast to sleep i say.
i don't
but then again, i've never heard anything by them. i don't think they'll be my cup of tea.
i dont.
i never liked them
even when i listened to alot of metal stuff like them
annoying voice
big time
i do think
ire works was inferior to miss machine
Don't like 'em at all
But dull is the wrong word, I'd use "shit".
i dont like em either
they are tuneless. and like a lot of hardcore & experiemental stuff. doesn't do it for me.
Cave In's
Until Your Heart Stops is the only album of the kind I listen to anymore. Botch and Converge hold up too but Dillinger never did much for me. I liked Miss Machine for a while, but that guys Mike Patoon apeing gets old.
Get back to listening
to your The Foals ringtone!
I prefer
Dillinger Four
i want to like them
I just cannae do it capn!
?!?
well dull is definately the wrong word
whether you like them or not
true.
weirdo
gimme some
convince me
'sugar coated sour'
has one of the best openings of any math/hardcore track - insane. you have to see them live, really, to unnahstan.
Not really
Live they are incredible, but then they are on cd too.
Dull is the worst possible word you could use for this band.
I'd except you not liking them, but dull?
Why
can they not be described as dull?
because they're not dull
maybe unpleasant or rubbish but not dull
its very easy to get bored listening to loud abrasive stuff
Dillinger aren't ALWAYS loud or abrasive though.
And even when they are being as aggressive as possible they still play with intelligence and variety. Have you heard 'Ire Works'?
Because of the sheer energy
of their music. You may not like it,but you won't be bored
i get fucking bored listening to anything from calculating infinity
I'm not a fan at all either
But would you call them dull?
And I'm saying you have to be a fan
I just think it's all a bit shit
dull no...I guess not....but does absolutely nothing for me....
Then you're the exception,
not the rule!
hence me asking the question
to find this out!
Why
does energy = not dull? Lots of chart pop has energy but is really fucking boring.
Good point
I mean more intensity. That said,it may still bore.Different people etc.
Yes.
huzzah!
i don't
huzzah!
i like them
dull? i'd rather you'd have said shit.
I am watching them on youtube for the first time.
Sugar Coated Sour.
