  • they aint got much soul

but for straight up dancin' fun I'm inclined to agree

  • i love em

saw em live in 2006 i think
there so fun i would reccomend seeing them live def

    • ...

yeah i saw em back in 06 and i cant beleive theyr not as big as hot chip yet. your right jesus bout not enough soul tho... i went to see them tonight with my mate and he didnt like them at all. i couldnt beleive it. whats not to like? theyr flippin awesome.

  • was listenening to Pip Payne

today while painting a fence, their melodies are unmatched...Some seriously good shit, they were cool live as well.

  • yes yes

    and yes!

  • i saw them a few years ago

    with the Klaxons supporting!

I thought they were great, they remind me of Devo, which is never a bad thing.

I am very excited about the new album, especially hearing the studio version of Heartbreaker.

  • you could have me easily

    = tune

  • I love metronomy

however every time i see them i think their songs are getting weaker and they don't play many of their amazing tunes as much - just more stuff with less beats but more singing

  • I heard their stuff before

and didn't think much of it but last night I watched a 120 Minutes I'd recorded and their new song was on it (Holiday I think it's called). Sounded good and now I'd be interested to hear more. Does this mean I'm a 'nu-raver' now?

  • announced today as

playing at offset festival with gang of four, radioclit, wire, maccabees etc

    www.offsetfestival.co.uk/lineup/

  • pretty goood

    but, a bit art schooolish...
i dont know..just seems like they have thought very hard about what 'cool' image they want to achieve.
nice guys though and a few very good songs.
    yup.

    • have you SEEN

their videos? they're profoundly uncool. they haven't given it a second of thought.

and their new album is brilliant. killer tunes.

      • oh but they have

radioladio = head to toe in american apparel? they have definatly thought about that...
        come on...

        • going to american apparel and buying a load of stuff doesn't mean they've thought about it!

it makes them lazy. However, a couple of bits from Urban Outfitters...the odd accessory from Uni-Qlo, a nice shirt that would match the background colours of the video from their mate who runs that vintage shop in Paris = They thought about it.

        • sorry, but no

even low budget videos come with a stylist. whoever produced the video wil have brought in someone to dress them. it happens. the fact that they wear such generic trendy clothes tells me that they didn't think about. everyone wears american apparel, it's a no brainer. and matching the colour of your tshirt with the background of the video is a pretty simple matter of coordination and has nothing to do with "cool".

anyway, what a stupid argument, i know them, i'm telling you that they don't give a shit.

  • bf

aren't 'your twenties' an offshoot of this group?

Now there's a band! Their first track on myspace is awesome

  • I think they're

    intensely annoying..

And the goddamn lights they have makes me want to punch them

Im always a bit hit and miss with bands of this ilk though, I like Late Of The Pier but can't stand Crystal Castles

    • How are LOTP anything like Crystal Castles?

Or have i misunderstood the term 'ilk'?
      O.o

(I can't stand Crystal Castles either, and am a huge Late of the Pier fan, but i don't see the point you're trying to make here!)

      • They both sound quite electronic

also; they both seem to like neon type things

Thats a really bad arguement and I think I'm being stereotypical in my judgement of the bands.. But it makes sense in my head. You know when you develop a sense of what a band is like in your head, and it's not entirely the truth, but in your head it becomes the truth?
Well if that makes sense its what I mean

I dont think it makes sense :(

        • LOTP are much more of a typical "band"

they always use live drums and bass, and the singer plays guitar for 90% of their set. And he's actually quite good, not just strumming some open chords and that.

          I think they are great.

Crystal Castles less so. Some of the album i don't mind. Live they are pretty gash.

          • nah

            metronomy is superb.

            • i strongly feel metronomy were SHIT at glasto

they seemed overly worried about the image, loooook robot dance, fuck off and produce something decent, one song stood out which i can't remember but yeah seemed like a crap 80s band whose dad stuck garden lamps on them because they wanted to be different

fuck off and die, and i thought ppl on DiS had better taste than this pilth!

              • The majority of the board disagrees with you...

ever thought your opinion might not be the right one? ;)

Less of that, i'll stop now, we all know everyone's entitled to an opinion blah di blah etc etc.

Personally I think they put on a fantastic show. So what if they choreograph dances for their live shows?

If you listen to their album without thinking about the 'image' then you'll probably be pleasantly surprised at how 'decent' they sound, considering they only play two or three songs from their album in their live sets anyway. At least when i last saw them.

So instead of shouting your mouth off with "fuck off and die" how about you "fuck off and actually listen to their music."

                Ooooh, good comeback.

                • and having seen them about 8 times...

since 2006 (yes you are arguing with a bit of a fan here) - they have NEVER been concerned with their image or appeared 'overly worried' to me.

I don't know, ever thought that it was about having fun?

        • I think i get what you're saying,

i think it's just that you maybe got into the bands around the same sort of time or something, because i've done that before too - but realistically they're nothing alike.

  • yes

    agree

i have a feeling their new album is gonna be one of the albums of the year - it will suprise people.

live they're on fire right now -

their myspace competition running at the mo is pretty cool too - i wanna metronomy vest!

  • Fantastic!

    I love Metronomy.

I never got hold of the album though, even though their booking agent was going to send me a copy when it came out! :-(

    • and

they sample Remake/Remodel so well too!
