Is he as consistent as Hitchcock?

I've never seen any of his films ever.

I want to see lots of them NOW. I'm ordering something tonight.

Probably this:

Yay or nay?

Annie Hall is alright

but he looks like a poindexter - and that matters as a film director.

get 'play it again sam' as well!

it's way more slapstick but still genius.

yes

but he's not as consistent as Hitchcock. The latter half of his career is just dreadful. I heard he has to make films every year just to have an income, but that seems to make no sense. The 80s stuff and 70s stuff is pretty good - not so sure about early 90s (haven't seen much of it). Recent films have been crap.

Also look out for....

Zelig
Everything You Wanted to Know about Sex...but were afraid to ask
Stardust
Sweet and Lowdown (it's got Sean Penn and Samantha Morton - one of his rare good 90s films)
The Purple Rose of Cairo
Interiors
Sleepers (it's set 200 years in the future)

he's a fucking perv

why can no-one see that he's a fucking perv?

I consider his exploits to be 'avant-garde''

Bunking up with your adopted daughter is all the rage now.

P.s. Polanski raped a minor

But his version of 'Macbeth'' is still, rightly, considered the definitive screen depiction.

Just calm down

and go back to your Roman Polanski film

i don't mean IRL

cos i like roman polanski. i mean in his films, he's a letch

Aside from the fact he resembles my great uncle

and paired off with his unofficial offspring..

Annie Hall is just perfect, (obv.according to me) but def be aware of the past ten years as said above

The one with christina ricci and american pie bloke is just awful. Can't remember its name?

I would slate Match Point too, but I'm sure there's some Johansson-Swooners lurking about this joint

i used to love scarlett johansson

but if i met her now i'd punch her

well hitchcock

went shit for the last few years too. not quite as shit as allen, but pretty bad.

everything up until about 1990 is pure gold, after that he's still done a few good ones.

annie hall/manhattan double is a good bet considering he uses so much gershwin in manhattan!

Annie Hall is shit

It's a comedy, right? I laughed once, and I later found out that the part I laughed at wasn't even scripted.

The gal in me thinks of it as a romance instead of just a comedy

Did you mean the coke-sneezing part? thats the only bit I laughed at.

I don't know what he intended it as..and I don't care, it just works for me

WRIGHTY LEW

get Manhattan so you can listen to George Gershwin
