Melodramatic loser who knows nothing of calming down his news stories accordingly.
Everything is ultra serious. I'm not saying he should be like that floppy-armed idiot who used to be Political Editor, with his endless shit metaphors, but Simpson reckons he's like the BBC's personal action man.
All he's doing is sensationalising stories that don't need it.
i disagree
maybe you should give an example rather than a picture
you mean like
when he dressed as a woman to sneak into Afghanistan so that when the yanky tanks reached the capital he was already there waiting for them?
dude
i'd like to see you wander into Zimbabwe at like the age of 60 when a really rather brutal government says you're not allowed in there!
I won't like to see this.
It would only end badly...
*wouldn't
He doesn't need to do what he does.
He films himself in all these 'heated situations' running around like a lunatic from evil Zimbabweans.
He shouldn't even be there. Everyone knows its rigged. He's putting himself and others in danger by being there.
He's a big chubby busybody, making something of nothing.
something of nothing
i don't call it nothing that a notoriously corrupt government has banned a new service which is particularly known for being impartial from reporting from the country.
i think he has a moral obligation to go there.
Have some respect, John Simpson liberated Kabul.
He has a lot of faults
such as his 'striding into Kabul' moment; and he often comes across as a self-important pantomime dame. He calls his wife 'the memsahib', for goodness sake.
But the range of stories he has covered, and the lengths he has gone to cover them, deserves a fair bit of respect. I'm not a big fan of him, but I can understand how has become a big name.
What it comes down to,
is, would you stride into a dangerous swamp to save him from sinking to his death?
Odds for suvival = 70%
Depends.
What is my quality of life improvement if I suceed?
If it gets better by a factor of 2.5, I'll do it.
He can be quite annoying
but you can't deny that he is a brilliant and intrepid journalist; staying in places no other news reporters dared at some extremely dangerous times so he deserves some respect.
