I listened to Death Cab For Cutie - The Photo Album today for the first time in about two years, and forgot how wonderful it is. Styrofoam Plates in particular, the lyrics are stirringly honest and sad, especially the start - "There's a saltwater film on the jar of your ashes; I threw them to the sea, but a gust blew them backwards and the sting in my eyes
that you then inflicted was par for the course just as when you were living."

Which albums have you rediscovered recently? And also, how long does it take you to become familiar with an album? I sometimes find that records never quite click - I've listened to Fleet Foxes so many times, and although I like it, none of the songs have started to sound familiar yet.

Just picked up the boxset of the remastered

Sisters of Mercy's 3 albums after not listening to them for about 15 years. The debut First And Last And Always has dated well - sounds really fresh actually. The other two are overblown pap.

Is that song

about The Big Lebowski?

forward russia- give me a wall

british sea power- open season

"Nantucket Slieghride" by Mountain

It amazed me in high school and it amazed me........

Yesterday!

Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer

And to answer the question about how long it takes an album to click, I find that I have to listen to something a minimum of three times, then not listen to it for about a month, then come back to it.

Weezer - Blue

recommend by Alex-In-Ciderland
it hasn't left my player since

i was thinking something similar to this just this afternoon

Sonic Youth - Washing Machine
Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising
Cypress Hill - Black Sunday
Animal Collective - Feels
VHS or Beta - Night On Fire

Just rediscovered...

Hearts Of Black Science "The Ghost You Left Behind"

The New Sigur Ros album

I have a really short attention span.

:D

Geisha - Mondo Dell'orrore

Noise rock and beautiful almost shoegaze like moments sometimes in the space of one track and also...
Meet Me In St Louis - Variations On Swing
Mogwai - Come On Die Young

the Replacements - Tim

particularly for 'Kiss Me on the Bus', 'Left of the Dial' and 'Little Mascara'.

Oh I love The Replacements

The sequence of Left of the Dial, Little Mascara and Here Comes A Regular at the end of Tim is perfect.

I've found that with Fleet Foxes as well

It sounds nice, but once it's finished I can't remember any of the songs.

I remember being really excited about The Photo Album when it came out because We Have The Facts...is one of my favourite albums ever. I didn't like TPA that much to start with but it grew on me and now I love it.
