  • generation records

and bleecker st. records, their near each other and run by the same people, due to location generation is a dollar or two cheaper for same records i found.

    • ^ yes here

This place is just around the corner from my brothers apartment, and it is fantastic.

They have some amazing t-shirts in the basement too.

    • i'm not that keen on these.

i mean, they're ok, but i don't think they're amazing. selection isn't that great, and i think they ought to be more specialised. like, generation is theoretically focused towards punk and hardcore, but then it stocks stuff like tori amos and allman brothers at the expense of records it really ought to have.

so thus far, dissatisfied. i mean, they aren't bad, and they're pretty decent comparatively to a lot of places as far as vinyl goes, but i don't think they're all that great.

  • I got a huge list of em off my cousin once

and have sent it to Tristan RNRM before, so if *he* can be bothered to dig it out--FAO TRISTAN! But I've got limited internet time atm, so I can't. Sorry.

  • if it's indie schmindie you're after,

i really like Sound Fix (they often have instore gigs in the cafe 'round the back too). Earwax records is also fairly cheap, good second-hand selections & vinyl. both are in williamsburg.

  • kims

    in the east village

the only place i want to be.

  • Bleeker Bobs

on West 3rd Street in the village.

  • THE

    CAKE
    SHOP!

  • sound fix in williamsburg

the one in st.marks - quite famous, just down the road from the cbgb's shop

but to be honest, ny record shops aren't great.
