Ben Folds Five reunite for MySpace
Posted:
In a move that surely has absolutely nothing to do with promoting his new solo album Way To Normal (released by Epic on September 30 folks - roll up, roll up etc.), Ben Folds is set to reunite his famous 'Five - The Ben Folds Five, no less... although there's only three of them - for a concert on September 18. The bad news? It's in Chapel Hill, North Carolina... America.
It is, however, for a good cause (Operation Smile), so if you're feeling particularly charitable then there's a number of budget airlines that could service your transatlantic travel needs.
The band will be playing their last album, 1999's The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messner, in full at the show as part of Myspace's Front To Back series - like ATP's Don't Look Back gigs, only quite a lot worse.
Here's what Folds had to say to rollingstone.com:
"Of our three albums, this one brings back the most vivid memories. It was actually written to be one song of many movements, which is why there are motifs that appear throughout the album. That should make Reinhold a natural to be played front to back."
Tickets for the gig are available from Monday September 8.

If I had the money to do this
I absolutely, totally would go.-
-
Are there really still budget transatlantic airlines?!
I could really do with knowing.

If it's anything like this concert:

It'll be amazing. He played some Five stuff when I saw him solo but I'd love to see an actual reformation.

ben folds five at the albert hall
remains one of the best gigs I have ever witnessed.
ATP take note - get them over here for a Whatever And Ever Amen show. BUT NOT AT FUCKING KOKO!
-
bugger
I hate 'em, don't I?
-
one off? me ting tings not
the support slot for the entire UK tour for Counting Crows States Ben Folds Five not Ben Folds.
Wonder if it is a glaring error shortly to be rectified?
-
haha
counting crows still living in the 90s. Now there's a surprise!
-
Me too
although it's my least favourite of their albums. I'd still be right there.
-
It is absolutely a mistake
It's definitely a one-off as things stand, and all the other shows are with his existing band.
-
really
want to go to this. not only my favourite ben folds album but one of my favourite albums period.
good news is, its being shown on myspace in october. would love to see it in the flesh though
-
where...
does it say specifically that it's a one-off... or otherwise? the info I got sent said it's their first show together in ten years - your reply suggests you agree it's a one-off but the poster above doesn't. confused...
-
Narcolepsy is a cracking, cracking tune.
That is all.
-
I agree
I wish this was a permanent thing. I hate BF solo stuff but loved the band!
