Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...

Frank Black doesn't rule out a Pixies reunion tour
Frank Black says he has not ruled out the possibility of a Pixies reunion tour - and revealed the band still get together to jam.
The Pixies officially split in 1993 after recording five albums together but are still revered by critics and fans.
Black, now a successful solo artist, admits the idea of reforming the band is never too far from his mind, but he has reservations.
He told London radio station XFM: "I do dream about the Pixies reunion, I do have to say."
"It's like those schoolboy dreams when you don't do your homework and you don't study for the test, but I'm at the gig and we're hanging out, but it's an utter failure and I don't know the songs, and hardly anyone turns up for the gig and people walk out. That's what I'm afraid of, that it'd be a big, big failure."
But he added: "We might. We do get together and have private jams together, but not for public consumption."
Black has also just announced a nationwide tour with his current band The Catholics to promote their forthcoming album 'Show Me Your Tears'.
The 15-date tour opens at the Liquid Rooms in Edinburgh on September 27 and closes at the London Astoria on October 15. You can catch the Black Francis experience at these shows:
September:
Friday 26th - Edinburgh Liquid Rooms
Saturday 27th - Aberdeen Lemon Tree
Sunday 28th - Glasgow Garage
Tuesday 30th - Leeds Cockpit
October:
Wednesday 1st - Manchester MDH

DiScuss: Would Frank Black be blowing everything The Pixies ever achieved if they reformed and were an absolute stinking, steaming pool of piss? Can he still cut it? Is anything sacred?

Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
ive seen frank live and the breeders, but the pixies would be a dream. I think its all in the past, i just hope they get a dvd of videos or unreleased stuff together. I aint too much bothered about seeing them reform.
We see to many bands reform, where the hell is this retro hell going?lol -
who is?
FB's live agent in the UK? -
Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
There is going to be a Pixies DVD including live footage and stuff - it was due out in September, but I think rights issues have pushed it back into 2004. -
Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
Having also seen both Black and The Breeders, and not particulalry being impressed by either, the whole reunion idea seems a littler unexciting. Sorry!
Still, at least Black plays his Pixies stuff solo. -

I get a nice warm feeling in my tummy when I think about a possible reading headline slot...

Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
The Breeders have been playing 'Gigantic' in their last few live dates... a reunion with Kim wont happen though, maybe the other three, then again, Frank Black and Joey Santiago get together and play stuff anyway... he's been on god knows how many of FB's solo albums... -
Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
No kim means no pixies reform. Theres no point, she is my fave thing about the pixies sound. Who else could replace her? -
Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
Actually, it looks like the whole cast 'n crew is gonna make it out for the reformation. I mean, since Joey, Francis and Dave already work together (contributes, headlines and does magic tricks before the show, respectively) there's no problem there. I'm just glad Kim's in it too, because nobody does a passable Kim Deal impersonation.
not sober, anyway. -
Re: Pixies to reform?! Rub your eyes...
The pixies were the pixies, cus all 4 of them had different styles. If kim and frank have made some kind of pact, then thats good. Its beena fair few years now. I hope its sorted, i really do. After all this, i wouldnt mind seeing them back together, if all was sorted.
At the end of the day, ego's are the things that ruin bands, bsides robbing band-mates houses. -

Trompe le Monde was, in my opinion after much deliberation, the best album OF ALL TIME. I can't believe how good they still sound, after all this time. To see them live would be fantastic. A little while ago I won tickets to see some live show of theirs at an obscure cinema and it was so good. Joey's brother played acoustic, it was unbelievable. They make alternative bands around today sound utterly inferior. No one can touch them, maybe the smiths and early REM only. But thats what I think...
