The second annual Ripcurl Boardmasters Unleashed Music Festival is almost upon us. With music from Feeder, Starsailor and Graham Coxon, among others, on 4-5 August to a backdrop of bikini babes and 6ft swells in Watergate Bay in Newquay, it's gonna be totally surf-tastic... dude.
The lineup so far includes such up-and-comers as Nerina Pallot and Jack Johnson's college buddies ALO, as well as a couple of local bands thrown into the mixer. Lovely stuff.
- Friday 4th August
Feeder
The Automatic
Captain
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
My Elvis Blackout
Saturday 5th August
Starsailor
Graham Coxon
ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra)
Breaks Co-Op
Nerina Pallot
Mick Hart
The Hitchcock Rules
Additionally, there will be live acts for the four nights from Monday 31st July to Thursday 3rd August in a new Beach Sessions feature. The festival is aiming for a more varied programme of live music and DJs this year to compliment the surfing, skating and BMX competitions that will take place over the week. Indeed, one young man is set to win the 5 Star Rip Curl Pro Men’s World Qualifying Series Event and get $100,000. I daresay it won't be me.
Tickets for the weekend are priced at £25 per night or £45 for the weekend. For more information on all the events visit the website www.RipCurlBoardmasters.com

This will only work if....
Feeder play Echo Park in its entirety.
OR
Starsailor become a surf-rock cover band

What's on???
As a fan of Coxon and hot guys with surfboards I'm in there like swimwear!

...
You know how in American action movies, there's always a bit where the President of the United States gets a shocked look his face and intones omniously: "Dear... GOD!!!"
I just did that when I saw that line-up. Hell, I'm adopting it as my new catchphrase. Laters.

So right
Except i did that bit from futurama:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
with optional: 'There is no god'

There's also...
...a Vice stage on the beach. Cazals and The Holloways are definitely playing, and The Pipettes, Absentee and The Rogers Sisters are as yet unconfirmed, but possibles. Apparently it's every day on the beach out of the back of a big truck. My Elvis Blackout are quite good too, have seen them many a time fueled by real Cornish Ale. Also, although they're not playing, Marvin and the Gayes are pretty shit hot too. (But in Cornwall that pretty much means not just a RHCP cover band...)

I never think of ye pasty Brits as surfrockers
